Dr. Roger Oen, MD

On my first visit, because my previous PCP departed this office, the doctor and I got into arguments about treatment (flu shot, which I never get) and medications (two) that I have been taking for years. I left the office thoroughly disappointed and confused. Obviously, this is not good, so I will not be returning.

If you are under his care in the Villa Coronado, he will just never come see you. He put it in writing that its also simply impossible to call back your top physician outside Sharp. He will put you in pain if you need pain medicine, even if you have 2 pain physicians that he even likes. He will physically run from you, and so does his helper Rebecca. Saddaf is more pleasant and knowledgeable though but can't override drOen. Other patients here in the nursing home feel the same way. Don't put your family in harms way

My personal experience over 2-3 years, until I said, 'Enough is Enough! He has an excellent assistant and other staff working for him, but don't let that fool you in choosing him as your primary care doctor. You will to be a guinea pig and go on trials as to what works. Most of the time it doesn't. I started with 2 pills a day. Then it became 11 pills a day. Still NO results. His famous words, "Well, that does not work, let's try this new medication." But keep in mind, if 'that' does not work, why am I still taking it with the new medication you just prescribed? That is how I got to taking 11 pills a day! He loves talks a lot, specially about his mother. Even though he will throw in a sentence, "I don't get along with my mother". Once you get on Medicare, he sends you on referrals to other places. imho just to CYA. This doctor just does not care about the patient. He is more concerned about the referrals/kickbacks he gets from the drug companies. One word sums it up, he is a QUACK!

Dr Oen is very warm and informative, he is the type that will take the time and explain everything you need in a timely manner. His Medical Assistant was very friendly and has helped with all my parents needs quickly, and always says if you have any questions please feel free to give me a call. I would like to thank this wonderful medical team for giving my parents the care and concern at this day and age to make their last years happy ones knowing that we can always count on them.
