Dr. Rohit Modak, MD

Incredibly outstanding provider

Rohit Modak, MD is an abjectly brilliant infectious disease specialist. He serves as Hospitalist at Virginia Hospital Center who toils at the Center of the Cyclone, so to speak, in regard to nosocomial infections such as C.difficile. Dr Modak also has a clinical practice at VHC wherein he consults/treats a broad spectrum of infectious disease challenges as member of the VHC infectious diseases physician group. Dr Modak additionally holds a faculty appointment as Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at Georgetown-U Med School. I can say this about my encounter(s) with Dr Modak: 1.) He is exceptionally intelligent and knowledgeable; 2.) He has a direct, get real, tell it like it is, yet compassionate and low key personality, which displayed no outward signs of ego. 3.) In other words he views himself as a provider who serves the needs of his patients. And, in the case of a C.difficile patient/survivor those needs lie at the cutting edge of medicine and may spill over into uncharted… territory. e.g. [[what do you [the patient] do if you need to see a dentist for an extraction and/or root canal or god forbid need a hip or knee arthroplasty wherein the use of peri-operative prophylactic antibiotics are absolutely necessary and constitute the standard of care]]?? Or what do you [the physician] do if an at home caregiver for a C.diff patient becomes colonized and subsequently requires a knee arthroplasty??? For issues just cited as well as a universe of others I can imagine but which need not be stated here, I strongly suspect there is no better expert in the metro MD-DC-VA area with whom to consult than Rohit Modak. Bravo and right on Dr M!!! CAVEAT: For the record, any implied rating in regard to "Staff" associate to this posting is to be considered directed to Dr Modak's clinical practice staff and does NOT represent/constitute any implied rating by myself of any other VHC hospital staff member.

My experience with the Dr and his practice is not a happy one. I am a patient who got a hospital infection resistant to oral antibiotics. This is the reason I came in contact with Dr. Modak. I was told with assurance that his treatment will be highly effective with over 95% success rate. I paid for the treatment and the doctor in cash right up front to avoid any possibility of being denied treatment. After the treatment was complete, I was told that in the event my test would come positive with the infection, the doctor`s office will be contacting me. I completed my treatment and weeks went on, and it was only my primary care doctor devotion who ordered a test and which gave me the news that I was still infected with the same bacteria that Dr Modak had "vowed" to help me cure. I went physically to Dr Modak`s office and talked to his staff. First, they told me that they had no copy of lab results, and that it was the lab`s fault for not forwarding them the results. Then they asked the… lab to forward the results to the office. And then the office personnel had the audacity to tell me that the reason for them not calling me, was because the results had came back negative, which gave them no reason to call me. In person this office assured me that they had no record of my lab result for a cure which I had self paid totaling over $1400 and then they tried excusing (lying) their behavior by saying that they did not call me because the test results had came back negative. This was lie number one... Lie number two:- I called the lab myself and asked them to send me a copy of the results, which they did. Upon receiving the results, I learned that multiple findings were marked as abnormal on the result sheet, indicative that the patient did not test sterile of the infection and that the results were indeed not negative as Dr Modak`s personnel had confirmed with assurance....... :( Both, my primary care Dr and specialist doctor office (not Dr Modak) tested me after Dr treatment and verified that I still have the same infection. Dr Modak and his office never followed up and most importantly did not keep a proper doctor patient relationship with me My experience with this office feels like a total scam due to poor management, and no communication with the patient, and LIES. I paid them for the services and in return they did not even dare to call me or see what happened with my lab results. Such behavior results in increased chances of worsened patient`s conditions, increased antibiotic resistance of such bacteria, including death.

I gave this doctor 5 stars, even though i have never been to see him, i saw his picture and he is a 5 Star Hottie! WOW!
