Dr. Bastian reviewed my son's case with Anthem Blue Cross and denied further treatments based on what was probably some sort of financial advantage to him for supporting a denial. Dr. Bastian never met or examined my son and discounted the recommendations of a highly respected orthopedic surgeon.

Spent less than five minutes with him in the ER and got a $360 bill. Nice touch not joining the same network as the Hospital you work in. Called to discuss the bill, and they would not discount it one cent. If I was in his network, he would have gotten $70.

My review is right in line with the other reviews on this site. I have a gasterological issue that requires surgery and this shill "doctor" recommended to Anthem Blue Cross that they deny the procedure. The surgery is recommended by my specialist surgeon based on my condition, approved by the FDA, requires no hospitalization, is band aid surgery and is completely reversible if it for some .01% reason doesn't work for me. The surgery that blue cross will approve is completely non-reversible and if it doesn't work you could be worse off than before, is major surgery and requires hospitalization! This "doctor" is board certified in emergency medical surgery and not anything related to the digestive tract. Where does he get his expertise to deny procedures to myself or brain cancer patients with his limited board certification? He is a shill and front on the payroll of blue cross for blue cross to deny procedures that are proven and deemed medically necessary by doctors that are… specialists in their areas. We need to take this to the media. I am so enraged! And btw, his patient rating is so poor that this must be his main line of income with blue cross. Dirty insurance business and dirty medicine!! I was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor. My very capable and expert doctors have requested that I have follow up radiotherapy and this doctor Bastian, who knows nothing about me suggested to anthem blue cross that I do not need this treatment. my treatment was denied based on his suggestion. I believe that anthem blue cross and this doctor are in the shameful business of denying treatment to save money. shameful.

This doctor has never met me, knows nothing about my medical history or current situation, and admitted to me it wasn't his area of expertise. And yet he signed off and denied coverage by my insurance company of a PET scan that showed my cancer had spread. What kind of a doctor is that?

This Dr is a shill for Anthem/Blue Cross. He reviews surgery requests from surgeons for the insurance company and denies them based on non-existent x-rays and ignores tests that validate the need for surgery. Based on the reviews I've seen I understand why he needs to work for Anthem. He can't manage on his own.
