Dr. Roland Jon Chan, MD

To be honest, I feel like he's burnt out and I've been dismissed again with a junk diagnosis of fibromyalgia and Hashimoto's. I feel like this doctor should retire.I'm just being honest, When my ANA levels clearly point to a systemic autoimmune involvement , I was pushed out of the door feeling dejected , and just not good. I had high hopes , and those were dashed. I feel like there's a little bit too much.Ego and being a female dismissed again by a male doctor...

I was charged for hand xrays I never had done. He became hostile and dismissed me right away after i questioned him on the xrays.

Good doctor. Very smart. Spends way too much of visit on the computer

I recently had a visit with Dr. Chan that left me speechless. I have seen him twice before for problems with my elbow. This visit was a 6 month follow up. I waited well over an hour between sitting in the waiting room and then waiting in an exam room for what seemed like an eternity. He came whizzing in and didn't even make eye contact, sat down at the computer, started typing and ignored me. He then rolled over on his char, flexed my elbows asked if I needed a refill on my pain meds and then said okay. He started typing again and I thought "this can't be the end", but it was for him. I had the nerve to ask a question and was pretty much blown off and told as another reviewer has stated to take Tylenol Arthritis! As far as I am concerned this was a waste of my time and I got nothing from this visit. I am writing a letter to him personally to tell him what I think and that we as patients deserve better, I don't care if the insurance has changed things! He gets paid for his… time and I should get something for it!! I will not be going back to him again. I will find another doctor who can at least look me in the eye.

Saw dr.chan for 2 months. I have brachial plexus injury.. resulted in left arm paralyzed and severe nerve pain on my left side, back pain,.cancer pain, arthritus, few other pain areas. Ive bin threw the ringer, my body is banged up and im hurting severely so ive bin on a pain medication so i can have a qaulity of life..On my 1st visit..dr. chan called me a pill attic and that i had to suffer without medication. I responded i am not a drug attic and ive bin on this medication for 12yrs and that it gave me my life back.i dnt abuse them and take them accordingly so i can live a good quality life. That i understand the opiod problem in are country, and i had tried all the alternative treatments and nothing had worked. He said " I DON'T CARE " u have to SUFFER" ! I was so furious with him. He didn't let me explain how and what led me to my chronic pain.. Aren't drs. supposed to have compasion, well he definitely does not. I only had to see him because my dr unfortunately passed away… suddenly. Bad manners, i do not recommend him at all!!!

Neither the doctor nor his staff are very friendly or easy to work with. My first visit lasted about 20 minutes and he changed many of my medications having decided without his own labs that I was misdiagnosed. On the following visit there were labs and my condition had worsened...again he wanted med changes. I'm in a lot of pain and he though I should take Tylenol...he is not caring or concerned. Doesn't pay attention when you speak. He is unfocused frustrating. I would no recommend this doctor to anyone.

At first I had no problems with Dr. Chan. He did an adequate job. Unfortunately, having less than average insurance I was treated differently. Less spending means more money in the pockets of the doctors. I went to him complaining of neck pain with numbness radiating down the arms. It was a clear case of a disc herniation (I had the same symptoms in 2001 prior to having a c5-6 diskectomy with fusion and hardware.He was but a few decibels below screaming when he angrily said, "what do you want me to do, x-ray your whole body?!"That was the last time I saw the most unprofessional physician I have ever come across. My physician at Lahey Clinic sent me for an MRI and found a herniation at c6-7 (quite common following a diskectomy). Luckily I do not need surgery this time, but I go for regular radio frequency treatments to burn off the nerve endings that are causing a great deal of pain. The numbness in the arms is caused by compression of the ulnar nerve in each arm.

Dr. Chan moves very quickly, but will always take the time to answer all my questions when I really need him to. I find him very caring and compassionate.
