Nice gentleman

I am not rating Dr. Newman, himself . I am rating the practice in general. My husband and I recently transferred to this office due to good word of mouth reviews from friends. I called to make my first appt and was told I could get in faster if I saw a CRNP at the other office location in Fleetwood. I did this, mainly because I needed a new Rx that I can't go without. I went to the appt to "establish care" which was to basically verbally fill out standard health history info. The CRNP, sent me for blood work because I needed it for my Rx. During my appt I told the CRNP that I was experiencing reflux symptoms. She asked if I took any OTC meds and I told her yes, for 2 weeks. She said I needed to take them for 6 weeks and if the symptoms returned she would then send me for further testing. I also woke up that morning with no voice, but no other symptoms. She checked my throat and said everything looked fine. She sent me on my way but told me if it got worse to come back. … (Sure, so you can collect another co-pay!) By the time I got home, there was a message to call them because they forgot to ask what pharmacy I use...no problem. The following morning, I received a call from one of the nurses telling me the CRNP asked her to call me because she wanted me to have a test done which required providing a stool sample, to test for H. Pylori, a bacteria in your intestines that can exhibit reflux symptoms. I questioned this because this was not discussed during the office visit. The CRNP told me to take the OTC meds for 6 weeks and if the symptoms did not go away THEN we would go for further testing. The nurse said she was talk to the CRNP and call me back. She called back 15 min later and said "Well, because you're pregnant she would like you to have this test." I replied " Well, that's interesting because I am not pregnant!" The nurse was very apologetic/embarrassed and said she would obviously have to review the charts better before making these phone calls. She then said that my OB-GYN wanted me to have the test. I told her I have not seen my OB-GYN since Nov 2011. She was totally confused, as was I. She then tells me that the test has been ordered for me if I want to do it. REALLY???? Just go for a test I do not need....ok? That Saturday, my throat was hurting the worst it has ever hurt, so I decided to go back to the walk-in care for treatment. I see a different CRNP, who walks in and the first thing she says to me is "Did you bring your stool sample?" Um, NO! And I'm thinking to myself, this is not even why I'm here! She examines me and I had a pustule in my throat and prescribes an antibiotic. She also tells me to take a decongestant, which I cannot take because I have a thyroid condition and decongestants are not advisable. When I say this to her, she tells me she had never heard of that and she would have to ask one of the doctors. Yes, I think you should! I tell her my previous Dr. was a pharmacist prior to become a Dr. and since he was the one to tell me not to take them I am going to trust him. My question is....shouldn't anyone licensed to prescribe meds KNOW these things!?!?!? The following week my husband comes down with the same thing as me. He really needed to see a doctor so against my better judgement I call to get him an appt, but with an actual doctor. I request the appt and they tell me that it would be 2-3 weeks before he could see the actual doctor. OMG, seriously???? So, he had no choice but to see a CRNP. Needless to say, I told her no thank you and that we would no longer be coming there for care, due to these 3 horrible experiences. I would not recommend these people to ANYONE! Stay Away! Oh, and I believe Dr. Newman is no longer with the practice....gee, wonder why?? ;)

On each visit I've been to see Dr. Newman he has instantly been able to diagnose my problem(s) and get me in and out in a timely manner. All of my questions were answered and explained. It is VERY hard to find such good care and am disappointed he will no longer be at Green Hills Medical Center.

Dr. Newman has great hours and has been great with various illnesses and traumas. Techs are very nice and helpful. The office staff is very inconsistent, phone messages to the nurse are not always returned. I would recommend him to all.
