Dr. Ron Samuel Newfield, MD

Total jerk. We were in the lowest point of our lives when our baby was diagnosed T1D at 18 months. He made us feel like garbage. Horrible people skills, his remedy is parent guilt and ignorance. But why do we all see him? Cause he's the only option out there. And that got chalk dude. On a positive note, he has motivated my daughter to become a pediatric endo so she can treat patients they way they deserve.

Dr. Newfield has helped my grandson with his growth issues. He is kind, understanding and a true expert in his field.

"First available" appointment was more than 6 weeks from when I called. We waited well over an hour to be taken into the exam room, and then nearly another hour before the doctor came in. The ONLY reason we stayed was because I didn't want to repeat that. My teenage daughter was uncomfortable with his demeanor. He asked many questions, but didn't listen well to the answers, talking over us. He was distracted by trying to simultaneously type into the computer, making mistakes frequently (as evidenced by the end-of-visit summary we were given). The important things (labs ordered, meds) were correct. He seems to know what he is talking about, and he spent quite a lot of time with us - although we'd been there so long, I would have preferred a quicker appointment! We will not be going back for the 6 month follow up.

After receiving treatment from many specialists from the east to the west coast I was completely shocked Dr. Newfield ACTUALLY went through those records with a fine tooth comb.He spent over 2 hours with us asking questions and listening.He was direct, compassionate, and had a fantastic bedside manner.He treated me as an intelligible human being. He treated my 8 year old with compassion. He was thorough and intuitive.He considered each and every detail from genetics to allergies. We are finally on a direct path to treating short stature appropriately.

OK doctor, horrible response time, waiting time, and service. Over 2 weeks to get a results of a blood test and no response regarding prescription side effects. Find another doctor.

Dr. Newfield treated our daughter at Rady's. I found that he did not listen and was unable to properly diagnose our daughter. He also talked over us as we tried to explane our daughters history. I find that the doctors at Rady's do NOT know how to troubleshoot problems and only have head/book knowledge... they really need to learn how to better troubleshoot the "source" of problems and not treat the "side-effect" of problems. Very disapointed... Would never allow him to see my daughter again.

Dr. Newfield is a great physician who takes pride in the care of his patients. He spends close to an hour with his patients to discuss the care they are recieving since the last visit. Dr. Newfield is very knowledgable and makes sure parents understand what has happened, why and how we can make changes to assure the child(ren)are getting the best possible care at home. I could not be happier with the care my child gets from Dr. Newfield and the staff at Rady Children's Hospital. Well worth the wait.

It always takes more than an hour after a scheduled appointment to see him. Once he does actually get to you, he spends a great deal of time with his patients. He is extremely thorough.
