Dr. Ronald John Alvarez, MD

Dr. Alvarez was a life-saver. He was quickly able to diagnosis what another ENT overlooked, He has compassion on my symptoms, had extensive testing done and He was correct with my diagnosis. 5-Starts for Dr. Alvarez!!!

Dr Alvarez did a fantastic job. I’ve had sinus surgery before and his work was by far superior to the one I had previously. He is a caring person very interested in your welfare.

I have Meniere’s Disease which has been successfully treated for a decade and a half by one of the leading specialists in the country. He retired and I went to Alvarez whose practice touted him as an expert in Meniere’s. In actual fact, he knows almost nothing about Meniere’s. The ONLY things he did was to badmouth my previous physician, calling him “old school” and recommended that I have injections and/or surgery which will destroy what hearing I left in order to stop the vertigo. He referred to one such apparently “new school” doctor. He was arrogant, condescending, openly ageist and disparaging of one of the leading physicians in the country who actually saved my life. Very unprofessional and one of those doctors who openly resents any patient that is knowledgeable about his or her own body and disease. Unless you want substandard medical, skip this arrogant man.

I had visited Dr Alvarez for an inflammation. He asked me to do an MRI of the neck at Emory without checking if it is covered under my insurance. I got a bill of 1336 from Emory. The receptionist or Billing department never picks up the phone and if they do immediately ask us to be on hold again for an indefinite time. The first time I visited the doctor he was showing all the confidence of fixing my problem and making fun of the previous procedure done by earlier doctors but then after the MRI procedure he just dropped my case too without a solution. Highly disappointed with their service.

My hearing got worse after the surgery as well as i lost tastin sensation on the right side of my tongue

I have a four years old who snores at night and We went to see Dr. Alvarez to check his tonsils. In the first appt. the Dr. didn't even check the tonsils, he checked the ears and He said he had fluids on them and inmediatly ran a hearing test in his office( THE CHILD HAD NEVER HAD ANY SYMTOMPS OF INFECTION OR HEARING LOSS). The hearing test was covered by the insurance "100%" ( casually ). He passed the hearing test, of course, and he just sent antibiotics that wouldn't hurt the child ( MY CHILD NEVER HAD THE MEDICATION, WE NEVER GIVE TO HIM). "Second appt" "10 minutes"THREE MONTHS LATER", Dr Alvarez words, Fluids are fine..don't worry. I wouldn't touch his tonsils until he is six years old. He can breathe pretty normal. Dr. Alvarez does not know that we are health care providers, and we own two practices. The unnecessary test and medication that Dr Alvarez prescribe to my four years old son WE could prescribe it. SHAME on him! You don't do that to Kids and people.

Went in for ear pain - Was not informed of cost of performing a nasal scope in the office or I would have refused. Did not know I would be billed $343 as I did not even know there was an additional charge for this procedure, I thought it was part of the office visit. Very sketchy office practices. ENT Institute claims to have "Transparent Pricing" - this is a very false statement!

Worst experience of my life. Would not recommend this doctor to anyone. Front desk totally incompetent as well as providers. Saw Dr. Patel for the first visit which wasn't terrible, but after having multiple tests done and seeing Alvarez, was the worst decision. Dr. Alvarez should not be allowed to practice medicine as he has no idea what he is doing. Told me I didn't have something and then cam back saying I had something totally different because he felt he needed to come up with some sort of diagnosis. Take my advice and save your valuable time and money on someone who actually cares. I would have left 0 stars if I could.

Great doctor plus the nurses are amazing and the front office is very welcoming.

Wonderful doctor, spends time with patients and is very through.
