Dr. Ronald Lee Cox, MD

This is by far the worst allergy clinic in Austin, hands down. I had a prescription for Albuterol from Dr. Cox for asthma which I primarily only used during the allergy season. Just before the Thanksgiving holiday, I had an unexpected asthmatic crisis, but I was down to only 2 doses on the inhaler. I called Greater Austin Allergy to explain the situation, asking Dr. Cox to renew the prescription and to book me for the first available appointment. He refused and had his secretary call me to tell me I was overdue for an annual exam and that I would have to wait 5 days (over the holiday) to get an appointment. As a result, instead of spending Thanksgiving with my family, I was in an Urgent Care clinic, suffocating, wasting additional time and money to get a diagnosis I already had. This clinic does not understand the dangers of allergies, specifically asthma. They are clearly financially motivated, and patient wellness and safety are not remotely a priority. Until this situation, I had… always considered Dr. Cox a generally knowledgeable and helpful clinician. Now, it is clear he does not remotely care what is happening with his patients -- at least not until he has his fees in pocket. Avoid this practice at all costs.

For the first time in over 30 years, I have been able to jog outside during Cedar season in Austin, TX! I also got to pet and cuddle with a cat the other day! Dr. Cox has given me a new life! Thank you!!

I have been going to Dr Cox for almost 2 years. I have some unusual health problems that make my immune system react unusually difficult. He has been on vacation and even in bed and takes his own calls for respiratory distress. He was able to connect me with a physician who focuses on nutrition, supplements, and other alternative methods. This put an end to the repeated asthma exacerbations.I am cursed with Bipolar which rocks when steroids are necessary. My psychiatrist was very impressed with his ability to care for my respiratory emergencies without severe stress on my body's chemical balance.I would trust this man with my life based on his knowledge and true compassion of patients. Some Dr's have tunnel vision, but in my case I have seen Dr Cox to have his eyes wide open and ready to step up and help you get the care you may need.
