Dr. Ronald Eric Prentis Frenkel, MD

I am in my 70’s and have worn glasses for severe astigmatism since I was 8 years old. In my youth, I had to wear glasses playing sports and even under my helmet driving open wheel racing cars. I also have had to wear separate glasses for reading since my early 40’s. I developed cataracts in both eyes and the left became so bad that I couldn’t read a speed limit sign at 75 yards. I also took a medication that can complicate cataract surgery. After testing, Dr. Ronald Frenkel recommended laser surgery with a toric lens implant. He performed the surgery without any complications and I now have 20/20 bright vision in my left eye. I no longer need glasses to drive or watch TV with that eye. I can’t wait for Dr. Frenkel to perform the same procedure for my right eye!

So pleased with the outcome of the cataract surgery performed by Dr. Frenkel. I was very scared beforehand but his reassuring manner put me at ease and gave me the courage to agree to the procedure. So glad I did!

he may be good but you'll wait upwards of 4 plus hours and have test after test. today I received a phone call from my ins. (welders) that said there were too many tests on my bills

Cataract was clouding vision, glasses didn't work well. After surgery with Dr. Frenkel vision in surgical eye is 20/20. I am looking forward to the second eye surgery. Great care from staff at surgical center and at the Stuart office.

My wife was referred to him by Johns Hopkins after having been seen by several ophthalmologists in Florida regarding her complaint of decreased vision. No one could find the cause and she was told to use artificial tears. Dr. Frenkel did a number of tests (the Institute is superbly equipped) and a serious problem was identified on a scan that he ordered. She was treated and has fortunately regained vision. Dr. Frenkel is extremely bright (Harvard trained), and has a thoughtful, caring, and comprehensive approach to patients. He doesn’t let things fall through the cracks and he really gets to the bottom of things. A number of our friends have had excellent cataract surgery by him and have also gotten the added benefit of his glaucoma and retina expertise. He is the consummate physician!

Easy to deal with the office appointments and billing, and office is extremely clean. It's on the water so they really maintain it. The staff is very well trained and very experienced and have been there for many years. Dr. Frenkel deservedly has a national and international reputation and was a former President of an International Society but he's very caring and down to earth and explains things in a very understandable way. He's incredibly smart and takes the time necessary to make all the important diagnoses-- you can really trust this man. I've been to many others and he's the best. I required eye surgery and got fantastic results in both eyes, and he was there for me when I needed him. The only negative is that because he's so sought after, if you just want to see him for a minor problem it may be difficult to get in.

I hesitated to go there since people said there was such a wait, But I went last week and maybe because it is summer, I really didn't have to wait.-no more than any other office, in fact, I would say less. He was recommended from my old doctor in Boston and when I moved here for good, thought I would try him, I am glad that I did. I really can't find anything bad to say about the doctor, the help or the office. I had one test for my glaucoma and they did it right away. I was in and out. Very friendly people and clean office. I would recommend to my friends.

I needed a doctor after moving here from Ohio. Dr Frenkle was recommended. I got an appointment right away, but did have a wait when I got there. He spent lots of time with me and they did do a visual filed test. I was able to get into a study which paid for my medicine so since I am on a fixed income this was very welcome. I will return to him when I come back down next fall.

IF YOU WANT TO WAIT 1.5 HRS TO BE SEEN USE THIS OFFICE. I WENT TO ANOTHER OFFICE AND WAS THRILLED. WOW WHAT A DIFFERENCE.

There were so many tests ran and I spent over 4 hours at the office. 4 hours of waiting and testing is crazy. I've see other ophthalmologists in the past and my visit times with them were 1/2 to 1/3 of the length and they were still able to help me. Also, the technician that was working in the room with Dr. Frenkel at the time of my lengthy visit was very nice, but for some reason this dr. was absolutely rude to her and made me feel embarrassed for her. Very unprofessional to say the least. Being smart and showing leadership are two different things and making me feel like a science experiment wasn't fun.
