Dr. Ronald Dale Spurling, MD

I came to see Dr.Spurling because I was having a difficult time sleeping. He prescribed me Xanax which at the time worked. He insisted that I upped my dosage at my next visit and before I knew it I was on 4mg of Xanax a night every night. Was also prescribed 10mg of ambien to help sleep. This went on for years and when I decided to get off of the medication I went through withdrawals that were so bad I had to go to rehab. So I caution you all considering seeking Dr.Spurlings consul. I can say this without a doubt in my mind. Because of my lack of knowledge about the medication I trusted him to put me on Dr.Spurling single handedly landed me in rehab.

Dr. SPURLING is a credit to his profession....good listener, great "explainer," very up to date on your status as his patient. He ALWAYS greets patients with a smile and brings a gentle presence to whatever chaos that is personally happening to me. He is reassuring in a "this can be dealt with" kind of way. dr. SPURLING has brought stability into my life thru his guidance.

Dr. Spurling has helped me to stop smoking & helped me with dreperssion. he is a very good doctor.

Dr. Spurling seemed annoyed to have to deal with my issues, availability was lacking, and he seemed quite rushed. Not really the attitude one would expect from a mental health professional (at least one with a sincere interest in helping). This doctor was recommended highly. Really, not interested in working with a doctor who seems to have better things to do with his time.

I have been seeing this doctor for nearly 2 years. He is very helpful. I would tell my friends, if they needed help to go to him.

Excellent. My life has changed dramatically ever since Dr. Spurling listened to me and prescribed the appropriate medication to assist me with the problems I have dealt with my whole life (so far). Within a day I was able to leave my house, enjoy life, go about my day without being overwhelmed and overly critical of myself. I used to live in constant fear, had a hard time getting out of bed, was overwhelmed by the most basic daily routine such as getting up, eating, cleaning and organizing my day. Now I feel very supported (by myself), My "inner critic" has almost completely moved into the background and the constant chatter about how completely unworthy I am has absolutely stopped leaving me room to fit in joyous activities, get things done, work outside of the home, be in public, exercise, eat, cook etc etc etc. It is amazing to me that the combination of medications he prescribed have absolutely banished my constant suffering. I also want to give a shout out to my… Therapist Dale Goldstein, L-CSW located in Rochester, NY. He urged me for a few years to see a Psychiatrist in a very loving and gentle and non-judgemenal way. The suffering became so intolerable that there was no other place to go. I resisted the help of medication due to the negative comments un-informed people make about people who use medication and a fear of the medication itself (the side effects and the ajdustemts that are needed frightened me...my trust level was very low). My regret is that I did not listen to Dale until things started to become dangerous (one can only live with self hatred for so long before desperate measures start to sound like a way out of the suffering). I gave Dr Spurling the highest score on every category.

Dr. Spurling is the best psychiatrist I have ever had. He is attentive and asks a lot of questions about how I am. I am usually with him for 15 to 20 minutes compared to about 5 minutes at my last psychiatrist. I never have to wait long to be seen and I feel like he genuinely cares about how I'm doing. I have asked him to go above and beyond for me a few times and he always does. Dr. Spurling is awesome!
