Dr. Ronald Theodore Zellem, MD

I served Dr. Zellem at the Duluth Sheraton Hotel in the Club Lounge, a somewhat private bungalo at the top of the hotel where those w/ a residency could kick their feet up in between surgeries. Dr. Zellem was more than a good guest. He was a pleasure and a bit of a gold standard. I've rarely seen anyone as kind and genuine as Ron. He offered advice, insight, and above all- sincere appreciation for our hospitality. I'm not a patient, but rather someone who saw true character each time he came into my lounge to grab a bite. You can tell he empties the tank and his work ethic seemed unparalleled. I write this to let you know what kind of man Ron is when he's not in the operating room- A gem of a soul. And an inspiration. I was very sad to read such bad reviews on Dr. Zellam. He perform three surgeries on me. I did not have any problems at all. He is very knowledgeble about his field. He was kind, nice, and he really listen to what I have to say. Sorry, to the other pacients that they had such a hard time. Fortunately, I am happy to say that he is a great doctor.

Ego maniac who cares more about himself than his patient. Gave my father platelets for a brain injury that almost induced a heart attack. If he is your doctor find a new one. Scared the crap out of our family so we transfed to a new facility who diagnosed and treated with out scaring us. Doesnt agree with a second opinion unless he is giving it.

Dr.zellam is rude, uncaring and after 27 years in business should know the signs of sciatic nerve damage. This man sent me home after viewing my mri stating it was in my head. 3 years, 3 epidural steroid shots and a discetomy later I can finally walk without a cane thanks to a chattanooga specialist. Dont waste your time or money with this guy.

Had cervical fusion and then the doctor stopped his practice.

I have seen Dr. "Z" as he affectionaly known by hospital staff form both sides of the bed. I have taken care of many of his patients post-op and was a patient of his about 4 yrs ago with carpal tunnel syndrome. He is a very caring surgeon and unlike most, he spends as much time as is needed explaining procedures to his patients. He's a big believer in pr-op teaching BEFORE the patient ever sets foot in the hospital, the patient has their discharge orders and their pain meds for going home before they even checkin to the hospital. As floor nurse I can tell you that patient education is woefully lacking despite all the media attention that healthcare receives, but Dr. Zellem this just doesn't happen. I was also diagnosed with a couple of bulging discs in the back of neck- I know who my surgeon is and now you do too.
