Dr. Roobal Singh Sekhon, MD

umm, he's been helpful so that's good rite? psychs and me are off and on but going good for 2 years.

I did not think he explained things well and was too quiet and curt in tone and manner. I felt like i was being talked and at not really listened to.I do not wish to return!

My needs are few. I've been on the same meds for years and just need a check-in every 3 months.(I have a therapist to work through any touchy-feely issues if I have them). I don't know if it's that Dr Sekhon is absent-minded, just doesn't care, or gets off on wielding the power to say yea or nay to your meds, but it is a major pain to get refills from him. Earlier this year I was seeing him every three months, and at the time of my appointment he only filled the Rx for 2 months. When I ran out, the pharmacy contacted him to request a refill. He ignored it (he always does), and I had to call the office FOUR times before he would call me back. He said he couldn't refill it because he hadn't seen me in 3 months. I provided the date of my previous appt (10 weeks earlier), and pointed out that I had an appt with him at the end of the following week. He VERY begrudgingly said he would make an exception and submit a 5-day emergency refill to get me through until my appt. And when I say very… begrudgingly, I mean that he acted like I was faking an injury to scam some morphine. Most recently, at my last appointment he didn't submit any refills at all. (HELLO? That's the whole reason for my appointment!) It took six days of daily phone calls, three refill requests from my pharmacy, and I was stranded without my meds for a few days. If he is indeed a psychiatrist (I'm beginning to have my doubts), he should know that psych drugs must be taken consistently with no gaps. Also, he's been increasing the appt frequency (from every 3 mos, to every 2 mos, then every 4 weeks.) There is absolutely no change in my situation justifying this. I'm convinced he's losing patients, and this is a way to keep the money flowing in. But his gamesmanship with respect to meds aside, he is so soft-spoken you can't hear him and at no point does he connect with you. I don't think he likes people. I'm not looking for group hugs and kumbaya, but half the time while he's staring at his computer screen while mumbling to me, I feel like I'm keeping him from playing Fortnight.

Very compassionate and helpful. I am much better since I started seeing him. When i first came out to see him, I was very hesitant to see a shrink. I am so glad I did. Dr. Sekhon got me on track and I am doing so much better. Thank you!

I regret seeing Dr.Roobal Sekhon. He is awful! I suspect the positive reviews were either written by family or paid for. I've seen a lot of doctors in my life and I had a horrible feeling about him right away. He wants you in and out of his office ASAP. No matter what you tell him he will say, "Aside from that, how are you feeling?" He will not want to delve into anything. He wants you out of his office. It took me two appointments to work up the courage to tell him something very tragic happened a month prior to me. His ONLY response was, "Aside from that, how are you feeling." I never told him how that made me feel. Only that it happened. I never told him out suicidal I was because clearly he never cared. I only went to him so I could stay on my medication and insurance leaves me little options. I am THRILLED he is leaving his current practice. I hear he bounces around a lot. He is clearly in it for the money. The receptionist was okay at first then got really snotty and rude when I… asked her a simple question. Good riddance! I hope to find a doctor who is caring. I've seen plenty and Dr.Roobal Sekhon was not one of them.

I came to see Dr. Sekhon after my doctor closed his practice. He assessed me and found that I did not have to be on all the medications that I was taking. My head is like in a less fog now and I sleep better.

I had been on xanax for so many years and it was getting to the point where I couldn't live without it but it really didn't work anymore. Dr. Sekhon assured me that there are other ways to help my anxiety. We tried several medications as well as therapy and lifestyle changes. I was skeptical initially but over time it worked. I won't say that I have zero anxiety but I feel like I have my life back and I don't live on xanax anymore. Jennifer the secretary is nice and the office is nice too. The answering service isn't the best which was kind of a problem early on when I was really anxious.

This doctor is not up to date with appropriate treatments. He has a one size fits all for everyone. SSRI's. Period. Latest research shows SSRI's may not be the issues with depression or anxiety, however, he is locked in the past with simplistic answers to complex questions. Undereducated. Very poor bedside manner with virtually no flexibility. The worst doctor I have ever seen.
