Dr. Roomana Sameer Arain, MD

It doesn’t surprise me that people are complaining, this psychiatrist does not listen at all. My psychiatrist retired after I had been with him for 15 years, I explained to Dr. Arain that I had already tried Zoloft four times and it didn’t work well, she just steamrolled me and prescribed it anyway. She gave me an incorrect diagnosis even though I told her my actual diagnoses, after a few months I became adamant she needed to request my prior medical records to get my correct diagnoses with appropriate medication dosages. She never got my records even though a phone call would’ve cleared it up.. Most zoom appts were 4 ½ minutes instead of a typical 15 and during them she wouldn’t even give me her undivided attention, she was often peeling/chopping vegetables during our sessions. I found her to be disrespectful, dehumanizing, and she often forcefully talked over me when I tried to advocate for myself. To other patients with mental health issues, I promise you there are kind, empathetic… psychiatrists out there. You deserve a better psychiatrist than this one.

She I was with her for three years, she never listen and act like she don’t believe me when I say how I’m doing. Give me lithium when I don’t have bipolar I got panic disorder and she actually refuse to treat it. Like it’s not real. In stead she put me on lithium, it don’t help me at all because I don’t got bipolar I got panic disorder. Tore my family apart with my panic attacks and she don’t think they are really happening even if I tell her. She act like she now better than me what my life is!!! Visits so short you’re there less than ten minutes she never change medicine either. But you have to go in a lot. Even though she don’t change nothing and don’t listen I see new doctor and she was so shocked I was not listened to and that I was on bad medicine. Got put on new medicine to help panic that was not treated with dr. Arain. Never going back she don’t do refills anyway. Always have to call and then wate. She don’t care and she don’t listen

It absolutely baffles me the reviews for Dr. Arain. I have never had issues as described by the other reviews. She is cordial, extremely reasonable, timely, and will genuinely work with you on even a psychology level if you allow her to. I will say, if you are looking for a handout of drugs, Dr. Arain is NOT the psychiatrist for you. She takes her time understanding all aspects of your life before writing you a script for pills. As it should be. This was not the case when I lived in Manhattan or San Francisco, and look where those cities are ... in crisis. Her approach not only protects her, it protects us too! Counteraction is not fun to deal with.

No other MD's have found a biological reason for my illness so I was referred to her. I'm a psychologist and I know that my GP was just doing due diligence. Roomana (she would let me call her that even though I have more training and 20 years more experience). She absolutely did not listen! I told her that there have been several days in a row when I couldn't eat anything. She said that she noticed in the comments from my GP that I've gained weight (due to my illness). To solve that she said I should stop eating junk food and exercise. I told her that I've been eating a Paleo diet for 11 years, I exercise and lift weights with a trainer twice a week. She then said that I should go on anti-depressants so it will stimulate my appetite and I'll gain weight!!! She kept trying to convince me that I'm depressed. Both my husband and I told her that I'm not depressed. She insisted I take meds and see a counselor. I told her that there are many people in the world who spend… years trying to get a diagnosis. Then I reminded her that when all you have is a hammar, everything in the world is a nail. She totally dismissed me. I finally said I'd call my therapist. I called my wonderful therapist and told her what is going on. She said, "Do you feel you need to come in?" I said, "Only if you want to have a battle of the grandmas. You can brag about your children and granddaughter. Show me photos and videos and I'll do the same with my amazing children and grandson." We both agreed that would not be a good use of our time or my money.

She cancelled several appointments with little warning. I was charged a $25 fee for missing an appointment that I absolutely didn't miss. My last appointment I waited an hour and a half past my scheduled time because 3 other people had the same appointment time with her. Doesn't talk to me amyway, just drugs drugs drugs. They denied a refill of my anxiety meds with no reason given on the day before I was due to refill it. Forced me to go cold turkey on a medication that you're supposed to ween off of. Never seeing her again.

She is quick and efficientand will help you if you made the need apparent. She isn't there to yakto you for an hour about your problems. She's there to diagnose and treat. She referred me to an exceptional group therapy and even better therapist in her office. She helped me do my disability paper work. She never came off as harsh or uncaring matter of fact quite the opposite on visits i needed extra attention she gave it and she had a superior yet very joking underlying demeanorwhen she said if you would use the meds as often as I kept telling you to you might not be in this boat now. Ready to listen to all my instructions now? She's great. 5 stars.

All she wanted to do was medicate me. She had very little interest in actually talking to me. She was not personable at all. My appointments with her only lasted a few minutes. You can’t diagnose someone just by talking to them for five minutes. She was a waste of my time.

She was very harsh with me. No sympathy or compassion. Basically chewed me out on the first visit with her.

We were looking for a new psychiatrist and found Dr Arian. In spite of the bad reviews, we still made an appointment with her. She cancelled my wife's appointment twice with very little notice and their office seldom answers their phone. My wife has left 2 messages to make a new appointment and there was no call back. We're moving on.
