Dr. Roopam Kapoor, MD

If I could give no stars I would. This doctor is the worst. She’s careless and incompetent. I’m still suffering from the mistakes she made during a procedure she performed which turned out to be unnecessary.

She rushes you through the appointment, laughs at you when you have legitimate questions and doesn’t call you back if you have any questions or concerns about your test results. She also the roughest gynecologist I’ve ever been too. She literally shoved the scope in and had no care that she was hurting me. I’m upset with myself for going to her as I heard she had even worse complaints at her former employer. Always read all the comments, not just the good ones. Lesson learned.

I called the office to ask a simple question about some bleeding while on Tamoxifen. Wondering how long It might be until all periods stopped. I was not in menopause so it was normal. However the nurse told me to come in and see Dr. Dr. Roopam Kapoor, bc she was free during her lunch. I had never seen her but love love love all the other doctors in the practice so didn’t think much about it. When I got to the office her and her nurse, also someone I had never seen before, rushed in and told me I needed an endometrial biopsy immediately because this bleeding was not normal. She threw something in my face to sign which I didn’t even get a minute to read, explained nothing and proceeded to perform the procedure (one I have had in the past with minimal cramping) and it was excruciating. She said she was trying to get into the right area but was having trouble. She just kept going hurting me more and more, when I finally asked her if something was wrong bc I’ve never experienced pain like… this before. She basically brushed me off and said, looks like it’s a normal period. We will call you with the results. I was in shock and in pain. The pain now has continued from this horrendous doctor for two months now and I’ve been forced to spend thousands on specialist to see what she did to cause this. It was finally decided that she was not only irresponsible performing a totally unneeded biopsy but unprofessional, rough and caused my pelvic floor to go into spasms. Because of this horrible woman who should never have gotten her MD, I’m forced to go to painful physical therapy and take multiple pain medications. Stay away from her. She’s not fit to practice. On another note…she never even called to give me the results of the torture.

She delivered my child recently and during the birthing process was not compassionate at all. The nurse was more caring and supportive through the process. I tore and she didn’t explain anything while it was happening and told me during the pushing process that I was not trying hard enough and was looking at her phone when she saw no progression. It was a horrible experience. Just thankful my child and I were ok after the birthing process.

She was the first doctor I saw when I was pregnant for the second time after losing a pregnancy last summer and I had the worst experience with her. I told her I just hoped everything was okay with this pregnancy since I had a loss with my first and I had a lot of questions. She actually told me that I should go "talk to someone and be on anxiety medication". I was so offended by her lack of compassion. I do not need anxiety medication, I need a competent doctor who doesn't make me feel like a crazy person every time I ask a question. Not only was she rude, she was extremely rough during the entire exam. I went through IVF and never once had such a rough doctor. Her accent is so heavy my husband and I could barely understand her, which I guess could be considered a plus since we probably missed all of her other offensive comments.

I saw Dr. Kapoor for my annual exam. She took her time to explain and to do the exam. She was very knowledgable. She paid attention to my family history and advised necessary testing. Overall my experience was very pleasant.

Every interaction I had with Dr. Kapoor before she left Brunswick Hills was negative, first as a GYN patient and then as an OB patient. I had her for a saline sonogram where she had me sitting naked on a table waiting for her for over an hour and then didn’t apologize when she came in, and then her rough handling of my cervix was excruciating (I have since gone through IVF and have had catheters in my cervix a number of times and never have I been in such pain as with Dr. Kapoor). Then as an OB patient, when I was transferred from the fertility clinic back to the regular OB, she failed to go over our genetic testing options with us, and she failed to test my thyroid even though I specifically asked her to, as I am hypothyroid. I didn’t find out until my next visit that she hadn’t included it in the bloodwork, and when they checked it, my levels were way off. I am lucky I didn’t miscarry thanks to her carelessness. I was dreading delivering and having her as the on call doctor, as every… other BH patient I know felt she exhibited the same level of incompetence. I’m so glad she’s no longer with the practice so I know I’ll have a competent doctor for delivery.

I’m first time pregnant and she didn’t even suggest taking prenatal vitamins, I had to ask myself. Also told me that is was ok to go to Aruba where Zika is apparently an issue. Now I have to get tested and worry that I may have this virus.
