Dr Poonia saw me in the hospital when my kidneys were almost completely non functioning. Through the last 18 months my kidneys have regained a remarkable amount of function with his care, as well my blood pressure.

I was very pleased with my appointment. The doctor was right on time and very pleasant. He spent a great deal of time telling me where what the status of my kidney functions were and how they were measured in lab reports. He also explained how electrolyte in balance can cause kidney stones. He is going to follow up with me in two weeks after I get new labs and my CT scan done. And he is working with my urologist at UCSF, and entirely different medical group.

I self-referred to this Mercy/Dignity Doctor on Coyle Avenue after receiving a warning from an ER doctor about my labs with regard to my kidney function. He is a nephrology specialist. Dr. Poonia is thorough, professional, kind, warm, a good listener, a good diagnostician who was able to take my labwork, and explain the long term effects of my medicine on my kidney function. Dr. Poonia took his time, prescribed a blood pressure medicine appropriate for my situation, ordered more tests and set up a follow up appointment with me for four weeks time. I felt very comfortable with Dr. Poonia. He knows his job and takes the time and trouble to answer my questions and alleviate my concerns. He is excellent and a rare find! So glad he is now my specialist.
