Dr. Rory Philip Houghtalen, MD

Violates laws and is extremely unintelligent in his field, you are better off with no help at all.

I am very surprised to see so many negative reviews. I have been a patient of Dr Houghtalen’s for almost 9 years, and have always found him extremely helpful, capable, and caring. He has always found time to fit me in for urgent matters, and genuinely considers, and values my input on different situations, as well as my treatment plan. He doesn’t do a lot as far as individual therapy, but is still sure to check in on things going on in my life and any problems I might be having. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for help with medication management or any psychiatric services.

Condescending throughout interview

Had my first visit with Rory last week. It will be my first and last visit. Guy has no self-esteem and keeps telling me how he should "be acknowledged" for all of his great accomplishments in medicine.

Well, I saw Rory for the first time two weeks ago. One positive aspect is that there was noone else in the waiting room. It was clear after my first appt why he his reputation is what it is.

The arrogance of this man is hard to comprehend. He had the brashness to tell me how busy he was and that he would only be spending a few minutes with. The man is either overworked or just not fit for medicine.

I never have a problem when I call or see Dr. Houghtalen. My visits are quick and to the point as I prefer with my psychiatrist. Amy on the other hand is unhelpful and rude. I asked if she could check if my Rx request made it through the system and she scoffed and said “I wouldn’t know that it would have been sent directly to him.” Instead of simply doing her (very easy) job and sending a note to the doctor to get in touch with me she just rudely blew me off. 0 stars for Amy.

I saw Rory for the first time about fifteen years ago. He was a capable provider at the time. Since then, he has let his practice and medication decisions deteroriate.

Highly competent provider. Ignore the the one star reviews submitted by one or more individuals obviously seeking to damage his reputation. It won't work; his excellence with speak for itself.

Dr. Houghtalen made my diagnosis which psychologists have written off as “anxiety.” Correcting this diagnosis allowed my medications to become effective and changed my life.
