Dr. Rosario Maria Riel-Romero, MD

Dr. Romero was very professional and knowledgeable about my child's condition. Our family has felt a great relief since she became our doctor. As apparently the only physician of her kind in the area, we understand her busy schedule and are grateful for her help.

We are foster parents for a 13 month old and the Dr. Riel-Romero is the only neurologist for this infant's care that the state would cover. Dr. Riel-Romero demanded we come in for an appointment and made it abundantly clear that this was important for the child's health. We showed up early for the appointment. There was only one other person in the waiting room. We were led to the exam room in a timely manner. Then we waited... and waited... and waited... for hours. Nurses and interns passed the room without a single explanation of where the doctor was. One intern came into the exam room but was unable to answer any questions, none pertaining to the infant's health, nor any pertaining to where Dr. Riel-Romero was. 2:15 PM Dr. Riel-Romero shows up and goes to see the patients in the next room and we could hear the child crying as she performed the exam. Then, instead of moving on to her next patient, Dr. Riel-Romero starting talking about nonsense. The exam was clearly over and she… still had other patients to see, yet she had the leisure to joke around with the people in the hallway. After that, the hallway became quiet. We looked out the door we could find no trace of the doctor. We stopped a nurse and asked her what was taking so long? Why were we made to wait over 2 and half hours to see the doctor when the doctor was the one who insisted we come in for such a time sensitive subject? It wasn't until 3PM that Dr. Riel-Romero came in, with an attitude, no less. We had been at the office since 12PM. Perhaps Dr. Riel-Romero heard from the nurse about our complaints. However, instead of asking for understanding, she came in highly defensive, insisting that she was the only doctor of her kind in this state. After the exam Dr. Riel-Romero finished with a passive aggressive taunt, telling the infant things that she should be telling the parent. Dr. Riel-Romero's conduct on this day was inappropriate and infuriating. If given a choice, we would not return to her.

Misdiagnosed my son. Humiliated him..

She saw my son and said he had a psychological problem and no physical problems. Unfortunately, he had a spinal cord tether and a malignant brain tumor. After he saw a competent doctor, we found that he required spinal cord surgery. Then his brain tumor was found. He died from this cancerous tumor, and as long as he lived he remembered her rude,demoralizing, and humiliating treatment of him. He was reluctant to fully explain his symptoms to other doctors after his misfortunate visit to her office, and this delayed his correct diagnosis. DO NOT ALLOW YOUR CHILD TO BE TREATED BY THIS DOCTOR!!!!
