Dr. Ross Stuart Kaplan, MD

Because I am not a doctor, I cannot rate Dr. Ross Kaplan's expertise as a dermatologist. But he outright lied to me and was very condescending. I feel that other people should know and that, if he reads this and becomes aware, he may improve for the better. Yesterday I called his office and asked if I could get my full-body exam with him only in the room. In other words, without a nurse or a nurses aid or whatever. Just him. I was told OK. Then I came in today and I repeated my request to the woman who brought me back there (possibly a nurse, I don't know). She said she would check with the doctor. She came back in and told me that, yes, the doctor agreed that only he will enter the room. She instructed me to disrobe. I did. But then the doctor AND SHE came in the room. I told the doctor that is not what we agreed. In a nutshell, I kept saying things like, "But that is not the issue, you told her to tell me that you agreed to give me the exam alone." He would always pivot to: "That is… not how I've done this in years." I asked him a series of questions that led to him admitting that he told the woman that he agreed to see me alone. I told him something like, "Can you see how I would feel betrayed? Can you see how I feel like my privacy and sense of dignity has been betrayed?" He said, "I am sorry that there was a misunderstanding." I told him, "There was no 'misunderstanding', you just lied to me." So if you like people to tell you the truth and to respect your dignity, I suggest you go elsewhere.

Never took time to explain or educate me about my condition. Simply wrote out prescriptions and gave me the once over. His med school obviously did not teach him tactfulness or empathy. Too bad I wasn't there to obtain thousands of dollars worth of cosmetic procedures.....maybe I would have received a bit more attention.

Dr was late 20 mintues! Was extremely rude. Didn't even let me talk. Told me, he couldn't give me the treatment I needed even when he knows I have a skin condition! Made me feel so uncomfortable, I am never going back to him!!!

It is very difficult to get an appointment at the office, if it isn't a future check. I am prone to skin cancer and Dr. Kaplan did not do a thorough enough exam, he only checked what you could see from standing.

In my opinion, probably the worst physician I've encountered in my life. Dr. Kaplan is a businessman, not a doctor who sees patients as human beings, but instead as cash cows. Even some of his reception teams were more concerned with payments. I took my son a few years go for severe acne. After a few appts. w/his PA Sean/Dr. Kaplan and Accutane, most of my son's back is now riddled with huge acne scars, so severe.... his back almost looks tan, in an very horrific way. Some of the scars are still oozing. We went to several dermatologists/plastic surgeons in Ventura/Orange Counties for second/third/fourth opinions. What was interesting was the comments from those in Ventura Counties after they've asked who we had seen which resulted in my son's condition...that Dr. Kaplan is a businessman, a very good one but no other opinions than that when they saw my son's chest & back. We have physicians whom we have been loyal to for years due to their unfailing care and thoughtfulness in… caring for us..we know which doctors are there to help.

Pompous and arrogant. Doesn't fully listen to patients and interrupts you when you are speaking. Botox injections did not work and he refuses to believe I may possibly be immune to the effects. I was still able to move my forehead muscles. Tried botox 4 times!!!!! He is a teaching doctor for Botox so I would think he would take this into consideration. For some people it just does not work! Also, I had other bumps on my face I was concerned about. Granted, they were not serious but I asked him what they were and how to get rid of them bc they appear from time to time. He basically shrugged his shoulders and shook his head, giving me no advice or information about these bumps (not acne). My previous derm was an excellent educator and would have at least zapped me with some liquid nitrogen or something or explained where/why these bumps appear. Kaplan seemed rushed and annoyed.

I went to a different dermatologist before, and he didn't do a very good exam. Dr. Kaplan is more thorough. He found a changing mole on me, and I am so relieved. The office is clean, and you can tell they care about the little details that make a difference to us as patients. I sent several of my family to the office. They said the same thing.

Dr. Kaplan is great. He found a skin cancer that my doctor told me was Ok. He treated it and the scar came out good. the girls in his office are really nice.

Misdiagnosed, wrong tests ordered, late & incorrect test results ( they did not do correct test). They push their house brand of skincare..insurance doesn't cover this..a conflict of interest. Office staff doesn't return calls, office manager doesn't take calls. Dr. Kaplan is a pretty good doctor, his staff is awful.

Great bedside manner. excellent office and staff. He is the best botox injector I have gone to.
