Dr. Roueen Rafeyan, MD

Great doctor for the religious type, or atheists that can overlook religious suggestions. I saw Dr Rayefan for about 2 years. Initially he was a great doctor, hence no one star here. My insurance wouldnt cover an expensive med so he gave me free samples for about 8 months until I got new insurance. I understand that this is basically unheard of. At our last visit however, he reccomended a book that would "change my life" full of pseudoscience and trust in a divine power (during that visit I told him I'm an atheist). This book was "How to Heal Your Life" by Louise Hay. She believes our souls chose our parents and most medical conditions are caused by negative thinking and can be cured through positive mantras. She also holds some quite sexist beliefs (like female hair loss is caused by women being in the "business world" and can be cured by relaxing and that menstrual problems are caused by women rejecting their femininity). I suffer from migraines (which he knows) and… the author believes their cause is "invalidating the self" and a possible cure is masturbation. I called him several days after our appointment to express my concerns and he never got back to me. After finding a new doctor I called again and spoke to the front desk to say I was leaving any why. He never responded. A simple apology or saying some parts of this book are great, ignore the others would have been enough for me to keep seeing him. I was as offended by the lack of response as I was by the book.

I met Dr. Rafeyan 10+ years ago by a friend referral. I’m still under his care and I am very grateful for all of the help he has given me as I suffer from chronic anxiety. He is very easy to talk to. I never feel uncomfortable expressing myself because he doesn’t judge me. I have the utmost respect for Dr. Rafeyan and I highly recommend him.

I saw Dr. Rafeyan in 2003. He is the most professional doctor I have meet.

He is great a very knowledgeable and compassionate doctor. He went out of his way for my son and showed true concern for him as a person.

Dr. Rafayen was very easy to talk to and within 5 minutes I felt he understood me and treated me in a very personalized way, not just following a standard procedure for all patients. I've been in recovery for a while, so he had helpful suggestions to stay on track and did not go overboard. I highly recommend him for anyone seeking help with an addiction problem.
