Roy Cardoso, M.D., FACS, is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in conditions of the hand and upper extremity at Baptist Health Orthopedic Care. His clinical interests include surgery of the hand, wrist and elbow. He is particularly interested in complex elbow reconstruction and peripheral nerve injury, including the brachial plexus. He is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Dr. Cardoso was an assistant professor of hand and upper extremity surgery at the University of Miami for three years. There he helped train residents and fellows. He has lectured nationally and internationally on a variety of topics, including brachial plexus, wrist and elbow injuries. Dr. Cardoso has also participated in many volunteer medical trips overseas. Additionally, he is involved in both clinical and basic science research. He has co-authored a number of medical articles and book chapters. In 2001, he was recognized with an Interim Year Research Training Award by the National Institutes of Health. …In 2011, he was chosen as a Young Leader by the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. Dr. Cardoso approaches patient care by treating his patients as he would his family, with compassion and empathy. He is committed to listening to and addressing each person’s questions and concerns.

I was looking for a 2nd opinion on issues I've been having with my thumbs. Dr. Cardoso and every member of the staff (Sade, Freddy, Jesus, Andres) were all friendly and caring, easy to talk with. Dr. C spent adequate time with me and explained the details to me thoroughly and answered my questions. Highly recommended.

I had surgery on my hand because Dr. Cardoso convinced me that the surgery would alleviate my excruciating pain. Well, I just went in for my post-opt visit and I must say, he is a man of his word, I am no longer in pain, thanks to such a caring and compassionate doctor. Dr. Cardoso's attentiveness and knowledge was on point from the beginning to the end. I would recommend him to anyone needing an Orthopedic Surgeon.

My experience with Dr. Cardoso and the Team @ Orthopedics Associates was truly amazing! I went from a 10% arm movement and intolerable pain post surgery to 90% movement, and pain free today. By the way I was so impressed by my results, that Dr. Cardoso also preformed my mothers rotary cuff replacement with similar results.

Terrible experience to get an appointment, called the Miami Lakes office and after 20 minutes waiting to get a person on the line finally get the appointment, but without me knowing the appointment was booked for Plantation office. I showed up for my appointment 20 minutes before and was told that was in the wrong office to try to get to the other office before 5 pm. While driving there someone called me to inform me the Dr was not going to wait for me and had to reschedule. Funny that you have to wait 30 minutes in the waiting area even when you get on time to your appointments, but the Dr can't wait 20 minutes for you to get there and all because his personnel screwed up with mis information.

Dr. Cardoso is an incredibly gifted Dr. He has helped me with various conditions including surgery. His level of connection with patients and his knowledge is second to none. I have a very active lifestyle and I feel great knowing I can count on Dr Cardoso

Dr. Cardozo wanted me to get an xray for an elbow problem exhibiting no symptoms of a broken bone prior to seeing my elbow. After I declined the test without seeing my elbow first he was lacking motivation to give me adequate treatment, but did provide a prescription for physical therapy.
