The usual wait in his office is 2.5 hours, but it's often more. They schedule patients for 9:00 am, even though the doctor never arrives before 10:00 am (by which time the waiting room is full). For that long a wait, a request for help finding the right specialist should not consist of "Googling" the specialty. I can do that myself! I need help finding the right specialist for a esophageal dismotility that is caused by Scleroderma (which requires different expertise than more typical esophageal problems). I said he could look into it when he has time & contact me. However, he wasn't willing to do any research or make any phone calls after I left his office. After nearly 11 years of being his patient, I'm very disappointed that he wouldn't help with this. As a patient, no specialist's office is going to tell me how much experience they have with my condition, because they want to charge a consultation fee, just to answer that question. Only a doctor can get another doctor to provide… this information over the phone, and making 2 or 3 phone calls for a long term patient isn't too much to ask.
