Dr. Roy Elder Hope, MD

Dr. Hope is very conscientious. I have another condition that could have been aggravated by surgery. He went out of his way to make sure all went well for me. I would choose him over and over again.

Takes time to listen and is very knowledgable. I felt like he genuinely cared about me.

Dr. Hope is a very good surgeon. I would recommend him to anyone that needs surgery. The only drawback is his office visits. Because he is usually in surgery before clinic, every time I have gone to see him at his office, the waiting room is very full and patients are waiting a long time to see him. Sometimes I have waited an hour to get in to see him which is too long. I do understand however, that the patient he is operating on has priority. Just wish I didn't have to wait so long. But I will continue to see him because of the overall care I receive.

I saw Dr. Hope at both his St. Paul and Apple Valley office. At both offices, my wait time was over an hour from my scheduled appointment time. The Apple Valley office has more room, but the St. Paul office was cramped and over-crowded and some people even had to stand for lack of places to sit. However, once I saw Dr. Hope things went well. He did take time to talk to me about my family history, my symptoms, and explained my procedure very thoroughly. Prior to surgery again he sat down with me, checked in, went over the procedure with myself and my spouse, and made sure he answered all our questions. On my follow-up visit, that was only maybe 5 minutes or so and he did seen rushed yet, at the same, I'm not sure there was much to say at the point because everything went well and I felt well. Bottom line: Dr. Hope takes time with his patients and does let you know that he's interested in your situation more than another "patient number". However, be prepared for long wait times… to see him.

I only had to wait 5 minutes in the waiting room for Dr. Hope before he called me and took out my gallbladder. He is the best Doctor ever.

Dr. Hope is truly remarkable. The interest he takes in his patient's care, comfort and understanding of the operative procedure is unique and rare in the world hurry-up medicine. He also takes time to understand your cares, fears, medical history. He gives his time. As a patient it may mean that sometimes you may have a little extra wait time for your visit...but when you need the "extra" time he'll be there for you, too.There are so many more things I could say. It all boils down to this: If I have to have surgery This is the man I want controlling my care and the surgeon I want holding the scalpel.
