Dr. Roy Isao Sugasawara, MD

I have been his patient for 13 years and have found him an excellent physician, who has demonstrated many times his willingness to support and counsel me on my issues. When I have mentioned his name his peers have acknowledged his expertise. I have felt that we worked my issues as a team and that has given me comfort. When I first went to see the physician, I thought his manner was quirky and overlooked a seemingly odd outlook on the situation I was in. After a few visits, I got the distinct feeling that this doctor had no concern over my well-being outside of the bare minimum required by the healthcare system. There were several times during the course of my treatment where I felt he was pushing me off to another doctor. I didn’t agree Immediately with everything I was being told to do, and asked questions, therefore he had no time for me. During one visit, his manner was so harsh that he made me cry. I will no longer see him, nor will I recommend anyone to go see him. Find someone who is passionate about their patients and actually cares about the care they are receiving under them.

Had prostate procedure TURP at St John's Pleasant Valley Hospital. Dr Sugaswara did a excellent job so far I'm recovering as expected. Couple of days little shakey but no serious pain. Being 81 I was expecting more discomfort still in the recovery phase but I think I will have a good outcome. Dr Sugaswara gets my highest recommendation

Dr. Sugasawara's knowledge and professionalism is outstanding, a 5 out of 5, for sure. I was nervous about treatment options but he put me at rest discussing the different options. No nonsense.

Dr. Sugasawara is an excellent doctor! He spent lots of time with me explaining my options and helping me to understand all that would be involved with my surgery. His office staff is also excellent. I had problems with my insurance and they went the extra mile to get everything sorted out for my surgery.
