Dr. Ruben Regis Cespon, MD

Constantly talked over me, assuming how I was feeling while ignoring what I told him. Considering he only ever allotted 8-12 minutes to our sessions though, I'm not sure what else he could do but make assumptions about his patients in that short of an amount of time. During my intake, I was extremely vocal about not wanting anything to do with taking any Benzos like Xanex ect. due to being put on enormous amounts for years as a minor that I don't feel my personality or brain ever recovered from. Despite this, he still attempted to prescribe me Klonopin. I did not know what it was and once asked he told me it was a Benzo. I reminded him that I absolutely wanted nothing to do with any kind of Benzo what-so-ever to which he responded "Oh, that's good." So he tried to prescribe me a medication that he himself agreed was bad. When I called him on it later, he denied ever having tried to even prescribe me it stating "That doesn't sound like me. I know myself, as a doctor, would always try… not to prescribe any kind of Benzo due to their highly addictive nature" so don't expect him to own up to any of his own shortcomings as a "mental health professional". That incident aside, he also decided to blow me off for nearly 2 full months allowing my antidepressant to run out resulting in a huge crash in my mood and mental well being. I called my insurance, the front desk at his office, the receptionist for his department in the program, my therapist and my caseworker who also work directly with him, nearly every day for weeks in tears pleading for help getting my SSRI refilled. Even my pharmacy tried submitting for the refill over 5 times over the course of 2 weeks and they could not get a response either so I ended up cold turkey quitting the 40mg Prozac I had been taking for 6 months through the middle of the Covid-19 quarantine when my anxiety, depression, and isolation were already considerably worse than usual. Finally, I had to request a copy of case file and all records/paperwork from the program to submit with an application for SSI only to find out that he barely took accurate notes through any of my time seeing him. Issues that I literally sat in his office in tears explaining to him were no where in his records. It honestly looked like at the end of each of our 8-12 minute sessions he would run down his session sheet checklist or w/e and just slash no on everything and move on to the next patient. TL;DR: If you're looking for support, a doctor who listens to you, cares about you, or even just kind of seems like they actually do their job, I would highly suggest you seek another psychiatrist as I assure you Dr. Cespon does not care about his patients at all and simply wants to get his patients back out the door on a medication so he can move on to the next paycheck.

Dr. Cespon has been respectful, thorough and careful in his assessment and treatment of my condition.

He listens carefully and asks good questions pertaining to mental health.

This Doctor displayed a very militant attitude and was not very affective due to the fact. He has very old practices and thoughts and is very set in his way. He will initially try to diagnose you for Schizophrenia and ask questions based on this, as this is his specialty. Also, do not be late, he will most certainly make you feel guilty about this. He is very uncouth and not a compassionate type of person.
