Dr. Ruben Anthony Mesa, MD

I flew from my home in Atlanta to see Dr Mesa in Arizona for a second opinion. I was diagnosed with ET and a progression into Myelofibrosis. I was on Hydrea and having horrible side effects. I spend four days at Mayo Clinic and my diagnosis was confirmed. Dr Mesa made a call to Winship Cancer Institute in Atlanta and was instrumental in getting me into a interferon Alfa 2 A clinical trial. I stayed on Interferon for four years. Today, my myelifibrosis is gone, ET gone and the CALR mutation is gone. I’m on no treatment and my platelets remain 250. I understand I am one of two patients this has happened to. I am grateful to Dr Mesa for directing my path to the right hematology/oncologist in Atlanta and that decision led to a great outcome.

Dr. Mesa is a caring, highly qualified, and intensely human physician. In the care to me by Dr. Mesa, was reassuring during a very difficult time and spot on in his treatment and diagnosis. I recommend him highly.
