Dr. Ruben Jacobo Pipek, MD

Everytime I have gone to Dr. Pipek, the appointments have seemed very rushed, only lasting 5-10 minutes instead of the allotted 15. He gives wrong information, like saying my blood sugar should ALWAYS be under 120 mg\dL. When I ask a question, he does not properly answer it, just again, telling me what my blood sugar should be and telling me to fo things I specifically stated I already do. And he's also denied my insulin refills twice now, stating they are "no longer needed" as a type 1 diabetic.

I have been seeing him for 1 year, I go once every 3 months, just so I can get my prescriptions. He spends about 5-10 minutes with me, ask me how I feel and thats about it. I dont see any other doctors except him, so if I ask him to write me a prescription for something like nose spray, he complains and tells me to see another doctor, He wants me to be on continuous blood glucose monitoring, but I am not interested in that right now, but I do check my blood 6-7 times a day and my A1C is 6.6, I bring my blood test meter and pump with me every visit but he is not interested in checking those, he says theres not enough data?! The waiting room there is like a Drive through, they just want to get as many people in and out of there!

Bed side manners are wonderful and extremely knowledgeable.

I tried to ask him questions and would answer them with not appropriate answers

I trust this Dr & his care

I feel like cattle.. come ..sit.. wait.. get reprimanded for not getting the numbers he wants. smiles.. leaves. Doesn't care I am beyond frustrated as the more I change my diet, my numbers only get worse. About to just say forget it.

This Dr., saved my life. He was a second opinion on my thyroid problem that I had been struggling with for years. Turned out to be Thyroid cancer and he found it located it and has kept me on track during the entire process. I am stronger than ever before and 3 years cancer free.

Dr Pipek does not listen to my concerns just keeps telling me to lose weight, he always seems in a rush to get out the door, once I was telling him my concern and he had his hand on the door handle the whole time, that does not make me feel that he cares, does not offer any solutions to my problems, thyroid, just says well all your blood work is fine you should be feeling good, but I am not. Blood work showed that I had low iron once so he prescribed iron, so them next blood work check up he did not ordered iron levels, when I questioned him he said, oh did you want me to check your iron levels every time, well your are the doctor not me, your are the one that found i had a low iron problem in the first place, shouldnt you want to know what my iron levels are every time?

Dr. Pipek-- saved my life. Came to him after being treated by another endocrinologist and during first visit preformed a fine needle aspiration and with in a month, I was diagnosed, had surgery (thyroid cancer), and on the road to recovery. He has been by my side along with his staff the whole way.
