Dr. Ruby Ali, MD

Please do not schedule an appointment with Ruby Ali! If I could give zero stars, I would. I should have looked at some previous reviews of this doctor before scheduling an appointment for my mom with this neurologist that works for Northbay. My mom had an appointment scheduled with Ruby Ali to diagnose her potential dementia as I noticed many symptoms and wanted to get a diagnosis and potential plan. The appointment was useless and frustrating. Dr. Rubi Ali had no bed side manner at all. She was rude and very condescending to both myself and my mom. I expected the doctor to have basic human people skills and to not only diagnose the medical issue but also give us more information on the disease, what the options were, what the progression looks like, etc. It was like pulling teeth to get information from her. She basically gave my mom a “test” and during the test she was very curt and rude. She just told my mom and me that my mom had severe alzheimers and was going to prescribe… 2 medications and that she should be in a memory facility. The appointment seemed very rushed and not customized at all. I am not a doctor but I understand that not all Alzheimer patients have the same needs. She also did not go over the medications she was going to prescribe as far as what they do and any side effects and the scary thing is she didn’t go over my moms current medications to see if there are any contradictions! I actually stopped her and told her she had no bedside manner, etc. and she said we can cancel this appointment and we could see another neurologist. I am sure she will continue seeing patients which is unfortunate because she is not a good doctor. She should look for work where she is not dealing with people.

I would give ZERO stars, but that's not an option. My mom had been having some memory issues and a few hallucinations, and after a visit with her primary doc at Northbay Medical Center she referred us to Dr Ruby Ali. After an MRI, and based on Dr. Ruby Ali's clinical diagnosis she thought the diagnosis pointed to Lewy body Dementia or Parkinson's Dementia. She had absolutely ZERO bedside manner in delivering this news to mom and I, she then proceeded to prescribe 3 different drugs and then said see how you do on these drugs and come back in 6 months. Mom got progressively worse and passed 6 months later. She was VERY progressed in her dementia, which we had no idea about, and with that type of dementia had a life span of 5-7 yrs.  Dr. Ruby Ali NEVER told us how progressed in her disease she was, nor what to expect, how to prepare, offered any advice, NOTHING. Just a drug prescription and sent us on our way.  AVOID DR. RUBY ALI IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR LOVED ONES.

Dr. Ali is rude, doesn’t listen, and lies.
