Dr. Rupert Patel, MD

Dr. Rupert Patel is the worst doctor that I have ever seen. He changed the prescription from my Endocrinologist without consulting him. My Lipase end up shooting way up. (He even said he knew my Endocrinologist). He is fatter than I am and he acts like a dietitian. When my urine protein start to show 1+, he did nothing even when I complained about back paint all the way to my feet. He simply said it's from swelling. (What? How? How do we take care of it? Medicine? ....) I heard that Nephrologists makes money by sending patient to dialysis. Now I know that he has his own money making dialysis center. Very very unethical and bad doctor.

HORRIBLE Nephrologist. Does not answer office phone. It does not matter how many times you call the office or doctor on call, you will not be taken care of or responded to. Dialysis patients are money makers for Dr.Patel. From reporting false visits to the clinic he’s supposed to come to weekly (you’ll early see him, he sends his NP (sometimes) and it’s very vague and brief. - very nice NP, but as a dialysis patient, I expect more than 5 minutes and asking “you good buddy”) and charging your insurance consistently. Dr. Patel also terminated my care via my dialysis clinic. No call, no email and no US mail (he claims he did all of this, I’ve yet to receive it) to me, the patient. This is all seems very money driven, and I’m not sure Patel even really cares about his patients that receive treat meant outside of his private (direct profit) dialysis canter (Bellaire dialysis) I have been prescribed recalled medicine, asked for prescriptions to be filled with no response, and inquired… on my reoccurring edema even on treatment and didn’t hear from or see Dr. Patel. It’s unfortunate that I had a great Kidney doctor (Dr. Mauther) before Patel that treated me wonderfully and followed up with his patients and I had to change dialysis centers and couldn’t see him anymore. As a healthcare professional (Speech Pathologist) it’s so hard for me to watch the constant poor principals and unethical practice of Dr. Rupert Patel. It’s sad that he treats patients like this and even more sad that most patients are not functionally and fully dependent enough to speak up for themselves on Dialysis (thank goodness I am not in this position and can help people to avoid this.) so he keeps charging your insurance and gets away with it everytime. Even if he doesn’t see you, he’s getting paid for it. STEER CLEAR kidney friends. Very sad and pitiful experience.
