He was great then, and when I recently developed a hernia at my original incision site, I returned to him for the procedure. He was just as wonderful this time as my experience 6 years ago. His bedside manner is impeccable, and his surgical partners and office staff are a complete extension of his kindness and his professionalism. I would not have any procedures performed on me by any other surgical consultants in the North Texas region!"

I had a fairly simple surgery for a rather unusual occurrence and Dr. Birdwell was wonderful at explaining and being patient with me. After ward I had an open wound and was quite anxious about it as I had lost my husband to a staff infection and he had an open wound. Dr. Birdwell has been patient and super informative with me the entire time. I would highly recommend him.

Dr Birdwell is an awesome surgeon! He has done surgery for me & my daughter..with no complications or issues post operatively. Extremely kind & patient. Recommend him to anyone in need of a general surgeon.

I saw Dr Birdwell in 2013 for removal of my gallbladder. CT scans showed there was probable cancer. I was very anxious to have it removed. Dr Birdwell and his staff seemed very kind and Dr Birdwell informed me he was NOT busy and could perform surgery the following day. I was beyond thankful to have it done so soon as gallbladder cancer can spread rather quickly and I was very sad anticipating anything bad happening with the holidays approaching. The next day I and my husband (as well as 4 of my 9 children) did as I was instructed. I arrived at the surgery center in Garland at 1pm. Dr Birdwell arrived at almost 4pm just before the center closed (nurses informed us he was in Lewisville playing golf). Needless to say, my experience was like a train wreck and changed mine and my families lives forever. Thankfully, Dr Goldstein and the liver transplant team at Baylor repaired my body. My “simple, routine laparoscopic day surgery with a 3 day downtime” turned into a SEVERE bile duct and… liver injury with a month long hospital stay, 10 inch scar across my abdomen, thanksgiving and Christmas were shattered, my body completely in ruins, my children thinking I was dying, not able to obtain life insurance, pain killers, monthly blood work, I could go on and on how this has altered our lives. All because...a game of golf was more important than my life. At least that’s the way it felt to us. Everyone asks about malpractice. Unless you die or are mamed, malpractice suits do not exist. Sadly, I had to put my energy, days, months, and years to attempting to recuperate instead of obtaining justice for myself and my family (which was kind of important with the size of my family and can not obtain life insurance any longer). Also, since the new laws in Texas came about for malpractice, it is not a lucrative business for attorneys. We are all human, we all have faults and make mistakes. However, when it comes to healthcare there is no room for mistakes. People die or their lives are forever changed. Please do your homework when you choose to let someone provide medical care for you. It can be a life changer....

Dr. Birdwell is one of the best doctors I've ever had. He was keenly interested in my symptoms and my surgery was performed flawlessly. He was attentive and compassionate to me and my family in post op and follow up visit.

This was by far the most comfortable I’ve ever felt with any Doctor. The entire staff is warm, kind & informative. Dr. Birdwell was easy to talk to & put me at ease immediately. He’s my forever surgeon! I’m telling everyone about him. So grateful to find this office.

This man saved my life, emergency surgery at 2:30 AM. I can not say enough good things about him.

Can't say about an accurate wait time because we had to fill out paperwork. But he was prompt, well mannered and confident.

He saved my life when others Drs dismissed my pain. He has the best bed side manner of ALL the physician I saw. He took his time with me and was the one who listened to me. I call myself his problem child due to all my medical issues. He is a genuine life savior.
