Dr. Russell N. Blankenburg, MD

I have just changed doctors because my former doctor has retired. I found Dr. Blankenburg to be a great listener and solved my problem. The office is very efficient in filling my prescriptions even when we spend 6 months in Florida. I would highly recommend Dr. Blankenburg.

A good doctor but, is never available. Always a 2 to 3 week waiting period. The receptionist will always try to schedule you with one of the other Physicians or to see Urgent Care. I asked if I should put Urgent Care down as my primary physician.

Let me first start by admitting that I forgot about an appointment. It was a new patient appointment - and I missed it while being out of town for work. I received a letter in the mail from Blankenburg. He told me he that I would not be accepted as a new patient and that I should look in the yellow pages for a new Dr. COMPLETELY unprofessional. Stay away from this guy.

Dr. Blankenberg has been my primary care physician for over 15 years. He has a wealth of medical knowledge and has resolved some issues with innovative solutions rather than just prescribing a pill, etc. When I left Wisconsin and lived overseas for four years, Dr. Blankenberg assured me that if I had any concern, I should just call him and he would help me in any way possible. I believe that he is extremely bright. Sometimes we share jokes in the office, but I know he takes every medical issue seriously. He thoroughly answers any questions that I have. Although I have retired and currently live in Florida for 9 months each year, I make sure my yearly check-up is with Dr. Blankenberg because I have full trust in him. When he does not have the expertise and refers me to a specialty doctor, I feel secure with his choice.

I have been a patient of this office for years. The last 2 times I had a need for a sick visit, I was told the appointment was not available for 3 weeks. Last time I had Pneumonia. Yes, that's 3 weeks for a sick appointment. Doctors are frequently on vacation or have early hours. Don't go here if you actually want to see a doctor.

I really like Dr. Blankenburg, his sense of humor can come off as insincere and he can be a terrible listener at times. I think he should focus on become a better listener. I would give him 4 stars as a doctor. However in the past few year many of the other Doctors in his office have left, and I believe that the service and attention to patients has suffered greatly. The Staff can be downright rude, especially on the phone. Trying to get a hold of anyone to actually speak with was comparable to calling time warren cable. I left over 15 voice mails for his nurse and even after changing my voice mail to indicate that personal medical information could be left on my voice mail, it took three days to get a basic response in regards to a prescription that was never sent to pharmacy. Had to change doctors as a result of their complete and total lack of responsiveness.

He is so nice, smart and funny too.
