Often when you go to Urgent Care you merely get examined in various depths and then prescribed some treatment and you're gone, 15 minutes. I had the privilege of being seen by Dr. Hays in Tracy CA and was diagnosed with Shingles. I say it was a privilege because not only was I examined, but I was also talked to person to person and treated for the diagnosis. During the talk, I was taught the details of the causes, the conditions, the treatments, options, and expectations. It was akin to sitting on the couch with a friend who happened to be your doctor. We discussed my overall health, some unfortunate outcomes to procedures and my general well being. My moral and outlook were so positive after our consultation that I felt in control of my condition instead of it controlling me. I don't know how the medical profession does it and I've seen dozens of doctors, but if it were up to me Dr. Hays would be a doctor of the year...
