Dr. Russell Francis Jacoby, MD

Dr. Jacoby was one of the doctors who discovered an Esophageal tumor while fixing a bleeding ulcer He was so kind and made himself and his nurse (wife Carolyn Cole) available anytime. He has followed up on my husband even though he is not directly his patient.y Since I needed a colonoscopy, I set one up with Dr Jacoby. During the pre-appointment both of them calmed me down and answered questions about my husbands cancer. Since then, I have spoken to Carolyn and continue to have my husband's tests/charts sent to Dr. Jacoby. How many busy doctors would do all that? In my 66 years, I have never had a doctor and nurse with so much compassion!

I don’t recommend this doctor. Their office staff is terrible. They rarely answer the phone and don’t return messages. The doctor was rude and to top it off the office woman made a racist remark towards the medical practice I was transferring from.

My primary care doctor highly recommended Dr. Jacoby for my screening colonoscopy. I was very pleased with the entire experience. The sedation was excellent and I slept through the procedure without any discomfort. Fortunately the doctor was able to remove a very large colon polyp and there were not any problems such as any bleeding or pain at any time after. Dr. Jacoby had a very reassuring manner throughout. He clearly explained the results when I awoke in recovery after the procedure and showed me a photograph and said that the polyp appeared benign. He called me a few days later with the pathology report that confirmed that good news that no cancer was found! I am definitely going to follow his advice to have repeat exams every five years to remove any more polyps that might grow in the future and I am confident that will prevent colon cancer that runs in my family. I recommended my friends and relatives go to Dr. Jacoby for their screening colonoscopy.

My wife and I went in for colonoscopies which was fine, but the billing was wrong. Over the next 8 months I many, many phone calls to Carol Cole { the doctor's wife } about the error in the billing or over billing to the insurance {when she seldom answers the phone}. She never calls you back when a message is left, when you do get ahold of Carol she claims she will take care of the billing error. However, it went into collect .This "Mom and Pop" doctor and staff are unprofessional. I will tell family and friends and anyone who reads this review "You do have other choices in who does your insurance billing."

Was there for a colonoscopy, pre-info -the doctor did not describe the procedure, nor did he give any info of any kind on it. He did have an excellent bedside manner, however, as he talked and joked with me as did his wife/assistant. But, I would rather have been serious, and talk about what was going to happen to me. As it turned out, the procedure went extremely well, I felt nothing, I did not go into any sort of comatose, I was given anesthesia, and did very well on it. I recommend him for a colonoscopy. Anything else, I don't know.

After a devastating diagnosis I scheduled an appointment to ask many questions. The doctor printed off a general overview pamphlet, one I'd already read online, and handed it to me as a response to my first question. My answers weren't in there, obviously, as I'd already read all I could online, and if he couldn't find it in the pamphlet, he couldn't give me an answer. I actually felt like he knew as much as I did about the pancreas.He talked more about the medical field and retirement than he did about my condition during our visits. Not exaggerating. He is uncaring and unprofessional and he and his wife are in it for the money and nothing further.The only saving grace at this office is the receptionist, Hannah.Do NOT waste your time.

I wasted a whole month getting a referral to see this doctor. The office told me he was accepting patients. After several weeks of trying to get ahold of his nurse (who happens to be his wife and gatekeeper) she said he was not accepting patients. I'll bet it was because I am Medicare. I told her how very I'll I was and asked for names of other gastroenterologists as I just moved to the area, and she told me (I'm an RN and had mentioned this) to look in the phone book! This woman has no compassion, which must be a tremendous reflection on the doctor because not only did he hire her and allows her to run his business, he married her! Either he, too, has no compassion or he is totally unaware of how cold and rude his wife is to patients. Either way, not a good sign.

In my opinion Dr. Jacoby is not a very helpful physician at ALL. I would say his follow-up and thoroughness were the biggest problem for me.
