Dr. Russell Robert Kinder, MD

So many patients are sad to see Dr Kinder leave Portland, BUT is understandable he needs to be in Seattle. But honestly, if he really needed to see Seattle Seahawks games, we would have all pitched in for private jet to shuttle him from PDX to Seattle....we miss him already! I've been seen by specialists at OHSU and Adventist, I've had a very long history of a progressive disease confirmed by accepted testing which has caused me severe chronic pain, I have tried over the years all the other therapies and medications in the anti realm (depression, convulsent, seizure) and have found opioid pain medication works best for the severe chronic pain I've dealt with for many years. Dr. Kinder has a theory that anyone on high doses of opioid pain medication is suffering from (Opioid Induced Hyperalgesia) you can look it up, though not all Doctors agree with this theory, as I've seen others who don't. He won't help you if you are in need of opioids long term unless you go on Suboxene at lower doses. Suboxone is a prescription medication that combines buprenorphine and naloxone. It's used to treat opioid addiction. It isn't a good choice for those with verified disease that's known to cause long term or progressive severe, chronic pain. The type of pain that… without medication makes you think about suicide because the pain is so intense. I left his office with the distinct feeling, or more rightly a conviction, that he felt all those who are living with long term, severe chronic pain, who found that only high doses of opioids worked for relief, as addicts. Although verbally he says different, after speaking with him and hearing his recommendations I feel his actions speak more loudly to me that this is the case. If you are a long time severe, chronic pain sufferer who really need opioids for relief, this is not the doctor for you. If you have pain that can be corrected or healed he may be of help. But if you've found over years of trial and error and other therapies have failed, that there's no other way to address your pain past opioid pain medication, this doctor isn't for you.

Not a pain specialist. I expected help with my chronic pain, he didn't even read my medical records, did NOT touch my spine, neck, shoulders where my pain is. Told me I was a addict, when my pain level is off the charts, and my med records shows my spine disease w/a screw coming loose from prior surg, plus arthritis thou my spine/neck, cervicalgia and bursitis on both hips! Not a good experience at all!

I couldn't be more thankful for Dr. Kinder. He's a one of a kind doctor who really cares. I've seen my fair share of pain specialists and there's not a single one who compares to Dr. Kinder. He's the BEST doctor out there!

I found Dr. Kinder to be honest and down to earth while really listening and NOT rushing me out of his office. He also was well informed regarding my case unlike other doctors when you see them for the first time.
