Dr. Russell Philip Maggio, MD

Just the best! Everyone is very pleasant and very professional. Dr. Maggio takes a very thoughtful interest into your needs and concerns.

I used to think Dr Maggio was overall a good doctor. I went to him basically my whole adult life. Until I really needed him, and was having a Terrible time with my hypothyroidism. Then he told me that "I didnt learn this in medical school, and I'm not reimbursed by the insurance company enough to warrant spending any amount of time learning something new". So, I guess that means that if you want a doctor who is practicing 1984-level medicine, great. The best thing he did for me, in the long run, was to send me a letter telling me he no longer wanted me as a patient! I was lucky enough to get in with a doctor who Wants to learn, who is up-to-date on thyroid treatment, and who CARES about how I feel, physically and mentally!!!

I was a patient of Dr Maggio's for almost 28 years. A few years ago he required his patients to come into the office every 6 months or they would cut off your prescription refills. I moved out of state last year but kept him as my doctor. He will only see his patients for physicals now and the NP's and PA's see the patients. Because I moved out of state I couldn't come in every 6 months. When I went 9 months without coming into the office they dropped me as a patient. His office manager, Beth was a total B**** on the phone and I asked to speak with the doctor himself. I was told he doesn't talk to patients on the phone. Beth told me to find a new doctor and insurance in SC but my insurance is in NY and I have no doctor here. In the 9 months after I moved I had my bloodwork done here and the results sent to his office. I never was given the outcome of the blood tests. I also came to NY for a Colonoscopy. I again was never given the results by his office. I find this to be… very reckless. I have medicines that I have taken for 28 years and need to take for the rest of my life. I am slowly trying to wean myself off of my meds since they refused anymore refills. The office is just way too busy to handle all the patients. I referred 4 patients to him over the years and they all complained that he was too busy to talk to them and every time you call the office you're immediately put on hold. 3 of the patients (that I know of) have left his practice. Other people have told me that they've talked to their doctor on the phone. Never in 28 years did I get that courtesy.

Careless and doesn't listen to patients. Miss major diagnosis.

Finally changed doctors. What a shame.

I am finally learned we are in charge of our own health, bodies, but the coach, the doctor is an important key in keeping healthy. Dr. Maggio and staff have always been pleasant and offer science based up to date medical treatment and guidance. The whole staff from clerical to PA, NP ,Nurses, are doing a great job.

I have been a patient for 26 yrs. I am so happy with this doctor.He is so professional and through.Makes me feel like my health and well being really matter.I will not relocate when I retir because of him.I will never find a practice like this again.

The office does not take ANY calls on Thursdays. I rarely see Dr. Maggio only the PA or NPs . When I have called the answering service after hours I have NEVER heard back from Dr. Maggio including a time when I had called to report chest pains. He has too many patients and not enough patience. The office staff is rude both on the phone and in person.

I think Dr. Maggio is one of the best doctors and best persons ever.

HORRIBLE!! DO NOT GO!! ALL HE CARES ABOUT IS MONEY- not your health! Staff is horrible! Front desk - very rude and no one knows what they are talking about!!
