Dr. Russell Neal Oakley, MD

Dr. Oakley was horrible, he never remembered who I was, or really why I was there. Even after he did my surgery I had to remind him why I was there not just because I was over weight but actually injured my kneecap. His surgery actually worsened my injury. He said there was nothing else he could do for me and chalked it all up to me being over weight and that I needed to lose weight to reduce the amount of force going across my knee cap, funny my left knee has no pain or issues. Well FYI, it wasn't because I was over weight, it's because my knee cap wasn't tracking right, I got another opinion unfortunately 8 months later who couldn't even believe I was walking on that leg. He did a lateral ligament release immediately and 3 months later I was doing great pretty much pain free except for now I have moderate osteo-arthritis from the damage that was caused between the surgery's. During my first surgical operation I had no arthritic changes.

Doctor was very clear with his communications and very prompt. He was thorough; asked good questions of me; listened to my questions; and gave me the courtesy of answering them. Excellent bed-side manners.

Worst bedside manner I have ever encountered. Antiquated and outdated treatment methods. Casting is NOT something that is done often anymore, and he employs this method with little room for discussion on an alternate method (brace).

pushed me into a surgery that left me with the same amount of pain if not more just now have two screws and a wire in my elbow that he said would be 100% after surgery 6 monthes later constant pain way decreased range of motion and now ulnar nerve issues

He was vague in communicating. The inital diagnosis took several visits. after surgery when he said everything looked good and there was no followmup needed, he did not encourage physical therapy. I believe if I had physical therapy after surgery I would have had better results. When I was in pain and returned for a re-diagnosis, he did not give any pain medication or care options or referral and said there was nothing more to do even though I could not walk and I was 59 years old. Another doctor had to call him to ask for a prescription. Very unconcerned about my quality of life.

Another surgeon messed up my knee replacement. Once I saw Dr. Oakley he quickly diagnosed the problem and repaired the damage (caused by an infection) with great results! Since I have had him replace both my hips with excellent results. His professionalism, surgical skill, and overall he is a caring doctor. Good Man!
