Dr. Russell T. Stuermann, MD

Russell T. Stuermann, MD, is a pain medicine doctor who cares for patients at WK Spine & Pain Specialists clinics in Shreveport and Bossier City. He diagnoses and treats chronic pain with the goal of helping patients reclaim their quality of life. Patients benefit from caring and quality care without long wait times in the local community.

Dr. Stuermann was born and raised in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Following graduation from Dorman High School in 1998, he attended Clemson University and graduated cum laude in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in biological sciences. Dr. Stuermann played football for Clemson University and earned academic and motivational awards as a student athlete, including highest GPA awards. Following undergraduate work, Dr. Stuermann earned his medical degree from University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia in 2007. During medical school, he served as class president each of his four years of study. Following medical school, Dr. …Stuermann completed his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2011.

After moving to Shreveport, Dr. Stuermann joined Medical Center Anesthesiologists, where he served the local community for eight years. While an anesthesiologist, Dr. Stuermann worked closely with hospital administrators and was a member of the medical executive committee because of his desire to improve the delivery of health care.

Experience with acute pain management inspired Dr. Stuermann’s interest in interventional pain management and the desire to pursue additional training. He completed a fellowship to specialize in interventional pain management at University of Kentucky in Lexington in 2020.

As a physician, Dr. Stuermann recognizes that each patient’s situation is unique. His training and experience allow him to work with the patient to create a plan that offers pain relief to his patients with the understanding that people respond to treatment in a variety of ways.

Dr. Stuermann and his family call Shreveport home. When time allows, Dr. Stuermann enjoys college football, bike riding and living life to the fullest with his wife, son and two daughters.
