Dr. Lamar is board certified in Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine and has been with Tennessee Oncology since 2005. Dr. Lamar comes to us from The Consultant Group P.C. here in Nashville. She completed Medical School at University of Tennessee. Her undergraduate work was done at Vanderbilt and Columbia State Community College. She completed her Internship, residency and fellowship at Vanderbilt University.

Dr. Lamar specializes in all adult malignancies and holds memberships in the Tennessee Women in Medicine.

Dr. Lamar sees patients at the Franklin Office. When away from the office she enjoys horseback riding, gardening, travel, hiking and spending time with her family.

Dr. Ruth Lamar has been my oncologist since breast cancer in 2009. She views and treats my 'whole' being, not just my breasts, as keeping me healthy (vit. D3) and fit. And gives me guidance when I need advice on other aspects of my physical being. She is a huge blessing in my life.

My entire family appreciates the job Dr. Lamar did during her treatment of my mother. She is intelligent and compassionate. The best doctor to choose should anyone need an oncologist.

dr. ruth needs a new job....i really like her but what good is a porshe if ya can't drive it.....her time with me and availability is almost out to lunch...a good doc in a bad situation....i have to leave and would advise all to avoid tn. oncology...an ins. mill

Dr. Lamar is wonderful oncologist that cares about her patients. She has always been courteous and very supportive of me and listens to my concerns.She is truly knowledgable regarding the subject of cancer;especially protocols for the clinical trials available for her patients.I am two-time breast cancer survivor; therefore , it is very important to have a physician I can talk to about any issues concerning my health,or the side effects that trouble me after the diagnosis.I thank God for placing her in my path.

I have been going to see Dr Lamar for several years now and have been impressed by her knowledge as well as her bedside manner I am a nurse and know first hand that it is difficult to find a doctor that has both of these qualities I love the way she treats you like a person and not a disease I feel blessed to have a doctor like her treating me
