Dr. Ruth A. Tessler, MD

Dr. Tessler performed a D&C Hysteroscopy to remove an endometrial polyp. Approximately, six weeks later, I passed a 4-inch piece of gauze (I have photos) from my vagina. I first notified the office of the retained surgical product on the day it happened. I was astounded that I did not receive a return call from Dr. Tessler or a staff member on the day of my call. With no response from Kips Bay, I went to urgent care, which transferred me to the ER, to be evaluated for infection and other retained surgical products. When I finally received a return call from Dr. Tessler the following morning, I was deeply disappointed in her approach to this horrific situation. Her lack of compassion was evident, but the gravest disregard for me as a patient was when she claimed she didn't even use a gauze during the surgery. When I submitted a formal complaint on medical negligence, NYU claimed they weren't responsible. Suggested a gauze magically appeared in my uterus. The gall.

I found out early in the year, that I needed surgery and was referred to Dr. Tessler. She doesn't sugarcoat anything and is quite straightforward, yet still I felt comfortable even during the initial meeting. She explained all options thoroughly. There was constant communication before and after the surgery. I am beyond pleased with results and look forward to being her patient until she retires.

I have had gynecological issues for so many years that I even forgot when they first began. Dr Tessler solved them one by one with a level of competence and efficiency I had never experienced before. I saw ten gynecologists before Dr Tessler, some of whom had excellent reviews: Dr Tessler is above everybody else I have seen in my life. I have never waited more than 10 minute sin her practice, I have never waited more than half day for reply to my question via the NYU app: this is health care at its best. Both Dr Tessler and her staff are a gem.

I have prolonged period and stomach pain for months, came to see her and she didn't even do a test on me, just simply speak with me in the office and change my birth control pills. Not yet, she sent the prescription to a wrong pharmacy somewhere in CA, took me forever to get the pills. PLEASE LOOK FOR SOMEONE ELSE!

If you are a high-risk patient, or need anything other than a routine pap smear, find someone else.

First visit. Short but thorough. So far so good.

Dr Tessler is adept and thoughtful. I research everything and she was patient and listened to my choices and preferences. I felt fairly in control with her of my health.

I have been seeing Dr. Tessler now for about 3 years. She is extremely thorough so much to say that she had discovered precancerous cells that required follow up. At first she didn't seem that pleasant, not unpleasant just not 'real' personable however after 3 serious follow up procedures that she executed so expertly and smoothly, and all successful, I now trust her with my life... Several improvements have happened in her office which originally was very poor however recently her staff couldn't have been more accommodating obtaining records for me, setting up appointments around my 'travel' schedule, accessible via computer. etc.. And, now I find her very personable. I think Dr. Tessler is a very special and talented Doctor and I feel very fortunate to have found her...

She could care less and does not know what she is doing - all with an attitude! Do yourself a favor and research, ask about her overall track record and then move on!

horrendous bedside manner to a young woman with a serious diagnosis. Was offended when asked for more info.The office staff was even worse. Rude,unprofessional, put on hold than cut off because they couldn't be bothered dealing with me. The office manager was not helpful and had the secretary cut me off after being on hold for 5 minutes. I would stay away from this practice!!!!!!
