Dr Shepherd earned his Doctor of Medical Dentistry degree from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where  he graduated Cum Laude and received the school’s award for Excellence in Esthetic Dentistry.  Each year he completes extensive continuing education to stay up to date in current dental trends and new techniques.  He has received advanced training in cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, periodontal surgery and oral surgery, and is a certified clinician for Lumineers®.  He is a strong advocate of conservative and comprehensive dental care.
Raised inAlbuquerque, NM, Dr Shepherd graduatedfrom Sandia High School before attending Brigham Young University on full scholarship.  Dentistry is Dr Shepherd's second career, having spent several years as a professional actor in the Broadway shows West Side Story, Beauty and the Beast, and CATS.  After many years in NYC and on the road, Dr Shepherd and his wife decided to settle down and build a family.  …Transitioning from theatre to dentistry, Dr Shepherd was selected as one of 35 students admitted to the prestigious Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA after earningone of the top 20 scores in the nation on the Dental School Entrance Exam (DAT).  As part of his training, Dr Shepherd spent 2 years as a Harvard Medical student, giving him a broad background in medicine, and allowing him to expand his focus beyond the mouth to treat each individual as a whole.
After 17 yearsaway from the Land of Enchantment, Dr Shepherd returned to the Albuquerque area, where he lives with his wife of 13 years, Tamera, and their two daughters, Lucy and Sophie.  In his spare time he enjoys the outdoors, music, art, cooking, reading,traveling, watching his daughters dance, and spending time with his family.
