Dr. Ryan Stewart Slife

The ER department at this Hospital is beyond Unprofessional. I was called home from work due to my 8y.o. complaining of chest and stomach pains when he coughs. He just got over the flu about 2 weeks ago and now presenting signs of another virus but when asked if he thought he needed to go to the hospital, he said Yes so I rushed home to take him bc if he says that, then he feels bad. Well before he was Triaged, Dr. Ryan Slife came into the room asking about his symptoms and immediately said that he probably has what everyone else is coming in for which were different strains of Viruses. He took his stethoscope and placed it one place on his chest on top of 2 shirts then touched his stomach and said that his lungs were clear and stomach felt fine and then said he could write it up as a virus unless I wanted him to be swabbed of which I did. He then asked if I wanted a chest X-ray once I mentioned the past flu and said I’m sure it will be negative. First off the approach into the room… was wrong jumping in front the girl doing the Triaging. I then don’t recall him introducing himself and he definitely didn’t ask permission from my son to touch him. I informed the Triage person that he has Autism/ADHD so you must verbalize everything to him before doing it. Radiology must have not gotten the info bc the lady was talking to him like he was disobeying her when he simply doesn’t register certain things as a normal child. Same with tech getting his weight. She kept saying stay still when all he was doing was looking up bc he’s nervous in unfamiliar places. We never went into a room but was sent back and forth out into the waiting area along with other sick patients. Once X-ray results were in, we were called back and hit with the dr prescribing him some Motrin and Tylenol. No reason why he prescribed it was giving but I declined the Tylenol and he got the Motrin because I saw that he had a low grade temp and it works better for him. Dr was made aware of me not wanting Tylenol and came to tell me that the X-ray was fine and then proceeded to ask why I refused the Tylenol. I then asked what was it for being sarcastic because no one stated why he was receiving it. He then told me why and then was like are you ok and I went off first by showing him my badge letting him know that I was A Nurse (of over 15 years) and the way he checked my Sons lung sounds was unacceptable. He went back and forth with me then had the nerve to say look at him, does he look like anything is wrong with him. Well why give him Pain Meds Mr? My ASD son was nervous and ready to go so he was holding the door when he said he doesn’t look like anything is Wrong but if my child says he’s in pain then he’s in Pain so how dare you make an Assumption that he’s fine because he’s not laying down on the floor bc we definitely never went to a Room. I rate this Hospital a 0.5 only because I did get him swabbed and X-rayed but I will NEVER go back and definitely advise Everyone to go elsewhere if you want proper and genuine care.
