Dr. Ryan Timothy Smith

I went to a scheduled dental cleaning with one of Dr Smith's Hygienists and was refused service. Four years ago I had a total knee replacement and was told that for three years after the surgery I should take an anitbiotic before any dental work. But now that I was four years post surgery I was assured by my doctor that it was no longer necessary. Several days prior to my appointment, I had an outpatient procedure on the same leg but was also assured by my surgeon that no antibiotic was needed before my upcoming cleaning. So I struggled out to my appointment with an immobilizer on my leg to get my cleaning When I was asked if I took my antibiotic before coming in, I explained that I had not and that I was assured by my doctors that it was no longer needed. Dr. Smith refused to allow me to have my cleaning. He overruled my surgeon and refused to take my word that I knew what I was doing. As a result I missed my second insurance allowed cleaning for the year. I offered to sign a… waiver but he refused. My husband and I will not be back. We refuse to be bullied by a dentist when it comes to our medcal care and we refuse to take unnecessary meds. So if you want a dentist who refuses to believe you and tries to force you to act against the advice of your doctor, he is you man. If not go elsewhere.

Dr. Smith is caring and I felt like he assisted me in not feeling scared. Going to the Dentist is not my favorite activity. Now I know I can do it again and remain calm.
