Dr. Ryan Hammond Tatum, MD

My partner/husband and I have never been this comfortable around a doctor before. Dr Tatum is caring, compassionate and always comforting. His communication through the healthcare app is always quick. Overall, we are very impressed with our new doctor.

Dr Tatum took really great care of my family when we were going through a hard time. I really appreciated his compassion and availability.

I made an appointment to see Dr. Tatum for a physical and adult ADHD medication, as I am going back to school and working full time. When I made the appointment, the person I made the appointment with told me that it was fine that my previous diagnosis had come from a primary care physician and just wanted to make sure that we sent the records. This was 6 weeks ago. I had all my records sent to Dr. Tatum's office and when I spoke with the receptionist who called to confirm my appointment the Monday before my visit, I specifically asked her whether the records were received and she assured me they were in my file. I arrived for my visit today and Dr. Tatum informed me he had not received my records. I told him the receptionist had told me on Monday (it is now Wednesday as I write this review) that the records were in my file. He said it was a "miscommunication" to which I pointed out that my specific question was "have you received my records from my previous provider" and the answer… was "yes." I was then told that the records couldn't be used anyway because they were from a primary care physician and not a psychologist or psychiatrist. I explained that when I made the appointment, I specifically asked whether it was ok that the records were from a PCP and not a psych and was again, assured yes, that was fine. He said he was "sorry there was a misunderstanding." I explained I am not comfortable seeing a psych, as there is no reason for me to see one beyond getting a prescription. He told me his hands were tied and asked if I wanted to proceed. Within five minutes of him walking into the door I found out his office had lied to me twice, and I am not comfortable treating with physicians who believe that behavior to be acceptable. I wasted nearly 2 hours of my day getting out there to be told only that there was nothing they could do, despite my compulsively checking that I had everything in order, and I did. his office failed to communicate accurate information to me and the audacity he had to try to establish any kind of patient-doctor trust after that floored me. I hope others have a different experience and maybe all the positive reviews are coming from people with less involved complaints but this seemed like a very straight-forward, simple procedure that resulted in an enormous waste of time and energy.

Always takes good care of me and my family and he is quick at emailing me back on the new system. I write in a lot. lol
