Dr Sabet Hashim, MD

Hi, First I’d like to say I’m sorry that you are looking for a heart surgeon, it is a scarry place to be. I have gone through this three times since 2011, two aortic valve replacements and most recently a mitral valve replacement. Because this was my third open heart surgery, it is considered a very difficult procedure due to the scar tissue from the previous surgeries. The difficulty was compounded because during the second aortic valve replacement surgery, an annuloplasty ring was put around the base of my mitral valve to help the valve close tighter. So, during the mitral valve replacement, this ring had to be removed before the valve could be removed and replaced. This was not a normal surgery, and the surgeon had to be someone that has lots of experience dealing with non-standard procedures. My Cardiologist highly recommended Dr. Sabet Hashim to do this surgery. Before the scheduled date, I meet with Dr. Hashim and his team and was very impressed with the professional feel of… all who worked with him, before I meet with him, he had already gone over my complete history with all the past surgeries and told me what went on in each one. He was confident that he could do this procedure with a good outcome and I felt confident that he could do it to. Before the surgery and as the date came close, I had many questions, and Susan and Megan of Dr. Hashim’s team always returned my calls quickly and with the response I needed to prep myself for the surgery. During my stay at Hartford Hospital, each day and throughout the day, Dr. Hashim, or a member of his team stopped by to see me and make sure I was progressing like they expected me to. After my release from the hospital, while at home recovering, I had several questions and some minor setbacks that I needed to call Dr. Hashim’s team, and again, Susan and Megan were right on the ball with swift responses. It felt like I was their only patient. If you are looking for an experienced Heart Surgeon, I highly recommend Dr. Sabet Hashim at Hartford Hospital, He can handle the most difficult and the routine procedures and his team are the best around.
