Dr. Sahar Raafat Kamel

I was surprised when I received an e-mail from OptumRX (mail pharmacy) that I was being sent a prescription for a statin. When I called OptumRX, they informed me that Dr. Kamel's office had prescribed the prescription, and I would need to call them. I called Dr. Kamel's office and left a message. The nurse returned my call and said that Dr. Kamel had prescribed the medication. I informed the nurse that no one had called me to inform me of this and that I have many side affects from a statin (which she stated she saw on my chart). I again informed the nurse that I was eating healthy. exercise 60+ minutes a day five to six days a week, and lost 40 lbs. I also told her that I was continuing to lose weight. She did not listen to me, but continued to go over the lab results. I asked the nurse do I need to find a doctor that will listen to me and not order a prescription before talking to me. She stated I will have someone call you. It has been five days and have not received a… call back. I am out $25 and must find a way to dispose of the prescription. Not happy!!!!!

I have had to leave this practice because of the poor office staff. I liked the Dr. but the support staff is inefficient. Calls are not returned. Med refills do not happen. I needed a PCP I can count on.

Dr. Kamel is a wonderful Dr. She takes her time with me and I never feel rushed. She really cares about me. She is fairly easy to see...even on short notice. I would and have recommended her to my friends and family.

I've been with Dr. Kamel for several years, and she is by FAR the best Family Practioner I've experienced. She is gentle, observant, caring, professional, and always knowlegeable! I trust her with my life LITERALLY!

This doctor is pretty terrible, she does not give time for me to express my concerns and brushes over anything I bring up with a sentiment like "you're fine, your healthy you have nothing to worry about." I want a little more concern. She prescribed me a pill that is very dangerous and is now recieving lawsuits. When I asked about the lawsuits and the danger of the pill she said it was not the same pill when in fact it was.
