Dr. Sally Hall, MD

She was very serious and she didn't laugh or smile much. Sometimes the conversations went to uncomfortable places. But Dr. Hall was a pillar of strength in my support system and there is no question that she is one of the legendary figures in my life. God bless you, Dr. Hall and Happy Retirement!

I saw Dr. Hall for analysis, 5 days/week, for over 5 years. No, she wasn't "warm and fuzzy", but that was not her role. She cared and guided, and I KNEW she cared. But a therapist can't force someone to be honest or to "go there", if s/he isn't willing to take the risk. Dr. Hall remained objective, was accessible, and encouraged me to take the leap of faith necessary to be honest with MYSELF, face disappointments/pain, and gather the strength tontake charge of my future.She did not push medications at all. When (for periods) she felt medication would be beneficial, she explained why and laid out a plan. I didn't always participate in my own therapy. I pushed her, wanting (at times) for her to "hold my hand", tell me I was OK, ... To cross the boundary and be my friend. Thank God she DIDN'T. Therapy / Analysis is HARD WORK and NOT EASY or pain-free. But without her consistent, professional, caring presence, I would not have survived a difficult youth.I think back and thank her… for being THE reason I have been able to create this wonderful adult life. Had I been with a less-professional Doctor, I know I would not have the life and family I have created for myself.It has been almost 20 yrs, but I can't imagine that the core of Dr. Hall's professionalism, caring and understanding of the therapeutic process has diminished. I am fortunate to have known her.Back in the day (late 80's-early 90's)

I was in therapy with Dr. Hall from the age of 11 until 15. She was very cold, had me on a slew of medications, wanted to talk about masturbation in almost every session and told my parents I would never function in society. I have now thankfully been off medications since I stopped seeing her 21 years ago, and I live a very solid and happy life as an adult. I believe the extensive use of medications at that developmental age caused many of my physical problems.
