Dr. Sally Sir-Yee Young, MD

Dr. Young is intelligent, trustworthy, and compassionate physician. I have been a patient for over 10 years and my medical condition has stabilized and my lifestyle greatly improved with Dr. Young as my provider. As a healthcare professional, I refer patients who also express satisfaction with the outcome. Something I look for is an organized practice, and I cannot say enough about how responsive and efficient, Brenda, Dr. Young's MA, is. She manages all the insurance issues, appts. and RX refills with speed and efficiency. When you are not feeling well, or worried, it helps to know everything is being managed. You are never left wondering or questioning whether the doctor got the message etc.

We moved here nine months ago from northern Virginia after I retired from working in the health care profession for 35 years. I was a specialist in Washington D.C. and advised ED doctors every day in care management of patients they called me about. I took my 88 y/o mother to Dr. Young for pain management for her severe back issues that were verified by MRI. She had major neurosurgery involving cage placement of L4-5 in 2016. She was doing fine then a reoccurrence of back pain presented one month ago. We saw her PMD who prescribed pain medicine and a referral to the pain clinic. We were given an appointment with Dr. Young. She walked in and introduced herself to my mother and myself and it wasn't ten minutes later that she "accused" my mother of being a drug addict. I was stunned as I've never seen a physician act like this in my life. I was an ED nurse for seven years then charge nurse in cardiac surgical ICU at Georgetown University hospital before becoming a poison specialist… at George Washington University in D.C for 26 years. I've been very close to critical care physicians for over 36 years. This is the first physician I have seen in years that was so disrespectful and outright demeaning to a patient in severe pain. My mom had been in the ER at Chelsea 4 days earlier for seven hours and her MRI was done there that day. It wasn't as if there was no record or imaging for the Dr to look at. She was just simply mean. I have hesitated writing this. Just consider yourself warned.

This was the most unprofessional doctor I have ever met in my life. I do not understand how a pain management doctor can walk into an initial interview and without so much as even a hello, begin the conversation with accusing my husband of being an addict seeking drugs. Excuse me? When I questioned her 'attitude', especially given that we were in a pain management clinic specifically required by our insurance, she said "I don't have an attitude. I'm just saying if you are here for narcotics, I won't be able to help you." Why would a doctor choose to open this way with a patient? And why would a patient wish to continue under such circumstances? We were there because my husband has a chronic back disability --- clearly evidenced by his MRIs, CT Scans, X-Rays and surgeries. Implying nefarious intentions was cruel, callous and unprofessional. Do NOT see this woman. She can NOT help you... and is more likely to do you harm.
