Dr. Salma Hitawala, MD

I am so grateful for Dr. Hitawala. She is kind, softly spoken, and loving. I do not see a grain of rudeness in the way she handles herself or treats her patients. My mom is a Medicare patient, and she welcomed her with open arms. I have only good things to say about this doctor. I believe and see her dedication for her patient's health and wellbeing. If I could, I give her 10 stars instead of 5.

15 years ago Dr.Hitawala Was my Dr.for many years,she is exceptional and a true professional....she also help me find that the cist I thought I had was a pregnancy at 40 tks doc....lol 5 plus stars for this Dr.!!

I've NEVER complained about a doctor in ANY way before. "Dr." Hitawala advertises herself as a walk-in clinic. There are signs all over her building, her hallway, and her front door clearly saying "walk-in clinic." My wife was up all night with a strange, severe pain in her wrist & thumb and I took her to this facility the very next day because it's location was convenient. We were SHOUTED at-- told "this isn't a walk-in clinic" immediately upon presenting ourselves at the front desk. We politely asked about the signs...and the doctor grunted "Sometimes, I can do walk-in--What's wrong?" We explained the wrist pain and she just began angrily shaking her head and said "I don't just hand out pain pills..." We interjected that we didn't necessarily want pain pills--but rather an evaluation and/or referral to find out what's going on w/ my wife's wrist & thumb--which the doctor could plainly see we had wrapped in our own splint. Continuing her angry, rude tirade she said "I'll see… about sending you for an x-ray-- Show me your insurance.." - -We handed her our Blue Cross / Blue Shield card and she ROLLED HER EYES and said "no thanks, this is out of network-- GOOD BYE" We were dumbfounded. In all of that, we had remained calm, courteous and polite- -figuring it would be easiest to work w/ this doctor than to move on. As far as insurance goes, I would have happily paid out-of-pocket up front to get my wife taken care of --but we were literally...shoed out-- COLDLY. We both looked at each other and asked "Did that really just happen!?!?!" Looking around the 'net, I see plenty of other people writing about how shockingly and immediately rude this woman is. We left... Went to Centra Care's walk-in clinic on 50--and my wife received an x-ray on site within 20 minutes.. Do yourself a favor: There are PLENTY of walk-in clinics around Clermont---Choose a more reputable, "full" service one--with "normal"-acting employees!

just now I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Hitawala. I have not only been treated kindly and with the love and dedication a Doctor swears to provide each patient, i have also witnessed Dr.Hitawala to go above and beyond for other patients. She always answers a patient's call and provides personal care to her patients. There will always be difficult people who will never be satisfied. There will always be people who want to be their own doctor and find it hard to accept the doctor's instructions. We must remember our doctor has many years of study and experience and know what to do in our medical condition. Dr. Hitawala, I appreciate you and admire your patient and loving misdemeanor. Called to schedule an office visit to speak with the office manager, Ali, as I was looking for a PCP for a parent. He tried to discourage changing PCP, as "all PCPs are smart and know what they are doing." Went on to say "that you people go from doctor to doctor because it's free..." and said to not call him again. Unfortunately, if this is the person representing her and her office, she is not the provider for you.

I met Dr. Hitawala last year when my mother died and was brought back. My mother is end stage for her heart and kidneys. Dr Hitawala has given me an extra year and counting. There is not enough words to describe how wonderful a doctor and person she is.I live 70 miles from her office and when mom was in the hospital last year, she made sure I knew everything that was going on, if there was a day I could not be there ,she would call me. Every question or concern I had was addressed. Medications were changed and adjusted to make mom more comfortable. Mom is also diabetic and was on 3 different insulins for many years . With Dr Hitawalas care, she is off all diabetic meds 1 less cardiac pill and a blood thinner. Because I live so far there is a few times my mom has been in the hospital. I always call the office and let them knw shes in the hospital for a fall or a transfusion. And every time either her or her husband calls to check on mom. Itâ??s the same when you go to her office. Yes,… you may wait awhile. But none of her patients care because they know when they get in there, they wont walk out until every question is answered and all concerns are addressed. I have changed my doctor and have chosen her for my primary. My issues are minor ,however I still get the same care and compassion as my mother. Recently my husband was not feeling well and called several doctors who all said next appointment would be December. I had asked him to call Dr Hitawala because they would get him in right away. He didnâ??t want to drive that far. The next day we were in the hospital, he had a stroke. Needless to say he had to follow up with his primary in 1-2 days, His primary had known for 4 months of his high blood pressure and never put him on medication. I called Dr. Hitawalaâ??s office ( her husband runs the office and is just as awesome as she is )and was not told when to bring him in, I was asked when do you want to bring him in. We went the next day. After a 40 minute visit, My husband said she was more than worth the 70 mile drive. I usually get nervous going to the doctor but when its her its just a sigh of relief. I know I will get help, I will get that big comforting smile and I know what ever is wrong she will not stop until your better. She does not give up on you or pawn you off on another doctor. I can not stress enough how incredible she is as a person and a doctor.

For my first visit I was very pleased. Due to an unusual circumstance, the wait was longer than expected. She, however, was very sorry it took as long as it did. I thought she was great!

This doctor is not only late all the time however she is rude and mean to her patients she has no help in the office and seems totally overwhelmed

Went for an annual checkup which was coded incorrectly due to her "diagnosing" me with pre-existing conditions. Called to try and rectify the situation, and was asked not to come back. This is a highly unprofessional way to treat patients who are simply seeking answers as to why they are being billed for something that is covered by insurance.
