Dr. Salma Makhoul-Ahwach, MD

Dr. Makhoul-Ahwach is just wonderful! I have battled hypothyroidism for over 30 years. For just as long I have dealt with physicians who would not listen to me about my own body. Dr. Makhoul-Ahwach actually takes the time to listen and to work WITH me rather than against me. Physicians in the past have assumed that I do not understand the workings and signals that my own body present. Since finding her, my levels are regulated, symptoms disappeared, and I feel better than I have ever felt. Brava, Dr. Makhoul-Ahwach!

This office is managed by clerks who are unresponsive, abusive, and apparently over-worked. I have tried for four weeks to have them call in a prescription refill. Still not done. Today they told me they would "get to it when they had time." I continually have problems with refills - wrong medicines, locations and time delays are common. It's always somebody else's fault. They will not take messages for the doctor. I am finished with them. Don't waste your time or money with these people.

Thought it was fine for a early 20s man with all symptoms of low T to be at 260ng/dl. Don't waste your time and go to a doctor who knows more

Dr Makhoul is very caring and nice. Each time I see her , she's not only concerned about my hypothyroidism but ask what else might be troubling me and treats them promptly. She advised me to have an ablation because of the side effects my hyperthyroid meds were giving me, she once treated me for UTI after I complained of this at her office. She suggested and prescribed weight loss meds for me after I gained almost 20ibs due to my hypothyroid and she sympathized with me and gave me a quick referral to a dermatologist when I had cystic acne. A referral my PCP wanted me to wait for 3months before referring me. She's awesome. Very professional. Her staff are polite and call in my results ASAP.

She is caring and thorough. I am so happy to have her as part of my care team.

She was very personable. I mentioned a concern with glands and she immediately referred me to a ENT. I don't know what she said in referral or my file, but when I walked in to ENT appointment they said, "I don't know why she sent you for an appointment here, I guess she wants me to discuss how to stimulate glands. She didn't talk to you?" ....NOPE! This office is not good about calling with any results or with referrals. Twice I've been sent for radioactive iodine cancer treatment. The first time it took 11 days to get call. This time I'm on day 6 and still waiting for a call. I didn't ever get a call with results from scans to tell if cancer had changed after treatment. I pulled it off the Wesley patient portal and sent it to them. They said they would talk to me about it at next appointment. I'm not sure if it is Dr. or office staff....I'm looking for a new office.
