Dr. Sam Leon Carson, MD

I am in search for a new physiatrist, I called the number provided for this doctor, hoping I would speak to a knowledgeable front desk staff and get some comfort in my first time reaching out to a psychiatrist. It was very much the opposite, when reaching out to Dr. Carson he answered the phone as if I called his personal cell, even if it was if you know you have new patients calling this number you think you would hold a little bit of professionalism. He was very much off guard and asked how I got the number, and when I asked was he accepting new patients he said yea, he was not responding like you would expect a Dr. to answer, no questions and no comfort. I could tell his arrogance from the two seconds on the phone so I asked is there a way I can find reviews (I found his number through Abington Hospital) , I figured there would be something he could point me in the direction in. His remark was yea google it like you would a cheap hammer. He said he doesn't know where to find it… because he doesn't make it a habit to read them. I quickly ended the call knowing he isn't someone who would make me feel comfortable while mentally going through something. When I ended the call with ok thank you, have a good day he said yeah and hung up. I googled his reviews like I would a cheap hammer, and to no surprise his reviews are mostly negative.

I cannot imagine anyone liking this arrogant, snide, quack. He cannot take a hint....and still has the nerve to call himself a psychiatrist. Power hungry mean old man...always taking new patients BECAUSE NOBODY STAYS WITH HIM. Rude, arrogant.....mean old man.....that picture says it all.

I was not treated by Dr. Carson in a hospital, rehab, or inpatient setting but, rather, I saw him once or twice a week for several years. He was always responsive, caring and helpful & helped me work through several difficult issues that converged simultaneously. When medicine did not work, he was attentive and tried alternatives. I'm grateful to have made his acquaintance and benefitted from his insight into my self-awareness.

Scary that this guy has a medical degree

He refused to call in my prescription to express scripts. He said it was to much effort. I bet it isn't to much effort to cash the checks from my insurance company. Then he tried to give me a bill for 352 dollars after my insurance company told him he was paid in full.

My wife was in critical condition in the hospital from auto accident injuries & this genius wanted to prescribe Ritalin for her. He also recommended other drugs for possible use. He told me "She is psychotic" & should take one or more of these drugs (while he was making odd facial expressions). The physician in charge did not approve the Ritalin & I told her I definitely do not want Dr. Carson to prescribe any drugs for her. I would not allow him to treat my worst enemy.

This doctor has been the most unpleasant man I have ever had been given knowledge of. This man works out of powerback facility in hatboro pa. He is the house psychiatrist doctor and takes no time or care in his patients needs nor their well being. He came to meet with my mother who is severely disabled and treated her like she was less than, or beneath him. Her roommate even told me as I am her POA the incident involving this doctor. He treated my mother like complete crap, that is absolutely unacceptable! As her advocate I hope this doesn't happen again let alone happen to patients who do not have the ability to speak up for themselves nor have an advocate as my mother does.

I was fortunate to meet Dr. Carson through one of his colleagues who held him in the highest esteem. I figured if another psychiatrist from the same hospital recommended and spoke so highly of him, I should meet him. I am glad I did. After I saw him, I learned from other friends who met him when their parents were in the hospital and treated by Dr. Carson. All of us have been impressed. I have known Dr. Carson to be extremely insightful, perceptive and accurate in his diagnoses and treatments. He is professional, concerned, compassionate, caring and forthright. Time with him is constructive and illuminating. I feel like he makes himself completely available to patients and is genuinely concerned for their welfare. Highly recommend.

I know this doctor to be caring and committed to his patients, resourceful and helpful. STAY AWAY (June 17th, 2013) offered a review that seems to blame the doctor for her problems while unfortunately ignoring the destructive impact she may have had on this relationship and perhaps on other relationships in her life as well. I hope she has found a new psychiatrist with whom she can get the help she seeks.
