Dr. Sam Kurien, MD

My mother whom is 87 and has multiple catastrophic illnesses was with this practice until her pcp left. We were referred to stay and go with Dr Kurien. Needless to say my mother is completely disabled and on palliative care. While Dr Chandler cared for her from the time she moved to Erie, I was applauded that Dr Kurien would not take her on as a patient. Maybe he was not aware and maybe it was the office manager and staff. We had an emergency today and I called and begged for him to continue care. I was told by his office manger and another staff that unlike Dr Chandler he could not write her RX's. Then I was told that my mother was never even seen by Dr. Chandler. Funny this practice for two years and some billed her insurance and was paid for services. I was then told that No, it wasn't that they couldn't, he would not take on and be able to follow and fill her RX. Ok staff which is it??? I understand that the office would not be able to make money on her because of her disability… to be able to leave the house, but really?? Do you just say "Well she can to further to see Dr Chandler" Really. As a wife of a predominant physician in Chicago and working in healthcare myself for 20 years for the second largest multispecialty group, our physicians would never turn away a patient. Yes I was in a corner and was upset, but maybe they were upset that I new some things about healthcare. Really turn this patient whom is ill away??? I would never go to this practice and hope that this doctor has morals and ethics of "WE CARE FOR YOU" thank how things went down today

Dr. Sam is a fantastic physician. He's extremely knowledgeable and doesn't rush. Highly recommended.
